<![CDATA[Car Visor Entertainment Center Does Everything Except Block The Sun]]> There's no reason to dismantle your vehicle or upholstery to install in-car entertainment systems, all you have to do is be creative, like with this car visor, which houses a 7-inch 16:9 widescreen LCD. Included is a DVD player and a video game console. The DVD player is capable of playing the whole lot of formats including DVD, SVCD, VCD, DVCD, CD, CDG, CD-R and CD-RW. Not only can it play videos, but it includes ports to plug in game controllers for some video game fun. There will be no Gran Turismo or Grand Theft Auto IV, but it does have a selection of 8-bit games capable of entertaining for at least one hour of that 20 hour road-trip with the family. The best feature is its ease-of-use.

There's no complicated installation or hacking-and-slashing required. Just replace your current sun visor and give it a little 12V DC juice and you're ready to go. It even includes an FM transmitter so the whole family can enjoy your horrible taste in movies. If there's anything to worry about, it's the price. This is available from a no-name Asian manufacturer for $100, which seems a bit low for everything it promises. Oh, and you may want to worry about dying in a fiery crash while playing a Street Fighter knock-off on your sun visor.

<![CDATA[Dale Earnhardt, Sr. DVD Possibly Best Selling Sports DVD Of All Time]]> The six-disc DVD set about the senior Dale Earnhardt, cleverly titled Dale, is possibly the best selling sports DVD of all time. It's difficult to be sure because both Billboard's DVD tracker and Nielsen VideoScan fail to count DVD's sold at Wal-Mart and, currently, the big-box retailer is the only place where you can get a copy of your own. Narrated by Paul Newman, Wal-Mart has moved more than 800,000 copies of the DVD. The question is will it outlast the upcoming eight-part DVD of famous Jewish-American outfielder Morrie Arnovich: Morrie, which will only be for sale at Katz's Deli? [ESPN]

<![CDATA[Jalopnik Holiday Gift Guide: Knight Rider Season One DVD]]> knightriderdvdone.jpgFor those who are skeptical of the new Knight Rider, and never managed to enjoy Team Knight Rider, may we suggest the original? The campy acting. The ridiculous plot twists. A talking Pontiac. The Hoff! It was a great time, before The Wire, when everything had to be resolved before an episode could end.

It's currently available at Amazon, for just $20.99, if you've got time to wait for the shipping. We bet you can also pick it up at your local Best Buy or independent movie retailer (if those still exist). It'll go great with a vintage Members Only jacket. [Amazon]

<![CDATA[Shanghai Auto Show: Audi Releases Some Backseat Entertainment Action For The A6L]]> The highly precise folks at Audi have been selling the Audi A6L, the long-wheelbase verion of the A6, in China since 2005. But only now are they using that big ol' backseat for something really special. Today at the Shanghai show, they've announced they'll be unveiling "an innovative entertainment system" that includes two big ol' 10.2" LCD monitors attached to a DVD player integrated in the rear seat center armrest. That armrest is like a central processing center for all sorts of multimedia goodness including game consoles, an iPod and even your digital camera. And did we mention it'll also include a TV tuner? Yup, now you can listen to your state-owned television stations in style. Full press release after the jump.

Rear Seat Entertainment for China Audi A6L as a mobile film theatre

Audi will be unveiling an innovative entertainment system for rear-seat passengers in the A6L at the Shanghai Auto Show (20 - 27 April 2007). Two 10.2-inch monitors are fitted on the backs of the front seats. The DVD player integrated in the centre armrest also includes connections for a games console, iPod and digital camera. Together with the TV tuner, the system transforms the luxury-class saloon into a mobile film theatre. Sound can be relayed via either the on-board speakers or headphones.

The system is available in the A6L, the long-wheelbase version of the Audi A6. It is built exclusively for the Chinese market and is frequently used as a chauffeur-driven saloon. Since its launch in 2005, the Audi A6L has set the standard among its competitors in terms of ride comfort and luxury, spaciousness and design. The chassis, designed specifically for the road conditions in China, offers outstanding suspension comfort, particularly in conjunction with adaptive air suspension, which is optional.

With a wheelbase that is ten centimetres longer than that of the A6 saloon, the A6L is unique. This extended wheelbase benefits rear-seat passengers, who can enjoy legroom that is exemplary in this vehicle segment.

Not least the range of equipment available for the Audi A6L demonstrates this model's right to the claim "Vorsprung durch Technik". The MMI operating concept enables straightforward operation of a wide array of functions such as a telephone and audio and navigation systems, not to mention a wealth of vehicle settings. Comfort features and standard equipment also cater for every possible demand.

<![CDATA[Windows for Your Scraper: Media Center in Buick Century]]>

Bumbeck's threatening to get on his bad motor scooter and descend down the 110 from the heights of Montrose to check out Gawker Media's new San Pedro facilities. And when we think of Bumbeck, we think of two things (among other things): Sammy Hagar's pre-solo oeuvre and this classic dictum: "I have a theory that every new automotive trend in Oakland starts with somebody inheriting their grandmother's car." Hence the '94 Park Avenues with dubs run sans lowering job, colloquially known in certain 'hoods as "scrapers." Now imagine somebody's grandma in across the Bay in Palo Alto passed away, leaving behind a perfectly serviceable '99 Century in her wake. Read on for the result.

Some technologically inclined nutjob has decided to pimp out his late-model Buick (There are actually late-model Buicks? Who knew?) with the latest in Windows-based mobile entertainment. The Win-MCE-centered system features a 7" touch screen hooked up to a CPU featuring 512MB of RAM, an 80-gig drive, wireless 802.11g networking and a slot-loading, dual-layer DVD burner. Better not park that sucker in Oakland...
