Today we're going to take a brief break from that to appreciate the 250 Vintage Vehicles post, which we love as much as all of you do. Seriously, what would the morning be without a 1974 Ford Maverick or a 1981 Fiat Strada? DOTS has allowed us to give up coffee, donuts and smack in the morning.

There were a lot of congratulations in the post, but we have to hand it to the ever capable SundaySunday for not only recognizing Murilee's contribution, but also making a pretty good Detwa dig at the same time:

Great photos, Mr. Martin. Were I to do a similar project in the Detroit neighborhoods where I drive, the title would need to be changed. "Rust Wars" perhaps?

Features would be something like: "Chevy Corsica Poll: Running or Dead?" And the 'Scort of the Week.

Yah, generally speaking, it would suck. Fortunately we have your finds to ogle over. Keep up the good work.

While Ray is doing whatever we're going to take this opportunity to make a few more jokes about the big D. ]]>

<![CDATA[ What's The Coolest Car You've Seen Parked On The Street? ]]> Not living in a city like Alameda, where the streets aren't covered in salt for weeks at a time, we're not often treated to pristine condition cars just sitting on the street. Despite the large size of Chicago, we'd be hard pressed to come up with something matching Murilee's brilliant and wonderful list of 200 cars down on the street in Alameda. The list instantly got us thinking about the coolest cars we've seen lying around.

The most interesting car we've seen lately was an Aston Martin Lagonda with the license plate SALIVA parked next to a convenience store. The most interesting car we've seen on the street of all time (not including auto shows) was probably a Ford Skyliner when we were younger. The owner was hanging out and even agreed to open and close the retractable hard top. It was awesome.

Some of you are luckier, live in nicer climates and are just older. What's the coolest thing you've seen down on the street, not involved in some kind of car show?

<![CDATA[ Frankfurt Auto Show: Citroen XM Exclusive Down on the Straße ]]> This Citroen XM Exclusive caught our jet-lagged eye on our way down to the river, where we also caught a glimpse of das boot. The 5-door XM packed a 3.0L 24-Valve DOHC V-6 or 2.5 TD turbo set atop Citroen's signature nitrogen springing - also known as Hydractive suspension. The computer-controlled liquid suspension has a compliance six times greater than suspensions made of schteel, and is driver adjustable. Had things gone better for this descendant of the mighty Citroen DS, a great deal more mechanics would be troubleshooting hydraulics instead of replacing the occasional strut. We're still looking for a good frankfurter.
