As long as the title aint salvage, that's a nice price right there. I actually like the fact that he didn't pressure clean the engine, it means it's more likely that the wiring is still functional.
That's a cool car, and it looks like this guy got plenty of fun out of it, so good for him. I want it, but I wouldn't buy it due to the cost of maintenance, the cost of insurance, the impracticality, and other boring realities.
Lets see. What could I do with that $22,000. I could buy a Toyota Camry!
NICE PRICE.
(I, personally, wouldn't have the Viper. But the price is good, and Vipers are awesome sauce. I'd buy myself my three dream cars, all of which can be had for under $10k)

1989 Ford Tempo GLS (engine-less, ready for SHO)
1958 Ford Fairlane
1978 Lincoln Continental Mark IV Bill Blass Edition
Nice writeup, but no. For that, you could get yourself a much nicer, newer, lower mileage C5 Z06 with just as many torques and a few more ponies, not to mention superior handling. 'Nuff said.
Crack pipe, could use that money better to buy beer and turn my sixpack into something more Cheneyness.
BTW Mr.Robber you have a fine way to express your self.
Ok for $22K I'll can have a new 6 cyl Mustang or this....
This car appears to already been driven hard. That makes it better, you can hoon this thing apart without guilt. We have all dated a girl like that haven't we? Not the marring type, but damn fun on a summer night.
While I will agree that all things being equal, this would be superb price for a 1996 Viper. However, all things are not equal, particularly when it comes to the build quality of the early models.
The very phrase "rough but running" and it's respective variations ought to damn well be red flags for anyone who has half a clue about buying used cars. Throw that phrase in with a 13-year-old Viper, and somethings gonna go wrong.
That, and there is the subjective factor as well. I have never been a big fan of Vipers; I love the concept, but not the execution. Nothing, not even the mighty SLR, gives me quite the same impression when I see one driving by. It's almost as if the driver is shouting, "Look at me! I'm a total p***s!" That, and it is also a choice ride for affluent coke dealers.
Camry price meant it's suitable for Camry-grade daily commuting. Just have another Camry-price ready for the gas bill. But you'll be having more fun than anyone else going 5 mph.
Oh for Chryslers Sake, what a bunch of whiners. "Oh the seats is scuffed up". Remember, we are talking about Chrysler Interiors of the early 90's, in which the "Leather" is very thin to begin with.
"Oh, the panel gaps are too big. It must have been in an accident". No, they left the factory that way. It may have been hand built, but in no way was that better then machine built/
"Oh, there are nicer ones on the market for just a little more". And most of them are in that hideous Red Color.
So how do I vote? Sorry, but it's Crack Pipe. I never did like the Viper.

Actually, I don't, regardless of miles.
