    @Pete Gaines: According to Wikipedia it is the "transmission of signals by modulation of electromagnetic waves with frequencies below those of visible light." I'm not sure what the application of this technology is here, or why people in the UK should be upset about it.

    Completeing the Digital TV analogy, UK consumers will be able to get a coupon to pay 2/3 of the cost of getting a converter. However, 2 months before the change is scheduled to happen, the coupon program will run out of money leaving many people without it. Then, the OEGA (Old English Geriatric Association) will get the government to delay the transition by 3 months for no real reason, which doesn't change anything since, by then, only 1% of people will still have only analog radio.
