@Davos88: Ah, the Diahatsu Rocky. Hadn't thought about those in a while, even though I seriously considered buying one. But I was betting that Daihatsu wouldn't last in the states. I was right, of course, and did the wise thing, But I still kind of regret it.
Any vehicle made in India sucketh greatly. No safety stuff, tinny construction using the cheapest possible materials. Crap motors. I wouldnt want one for free.
This is an interesting little truck. I could see how some people would LUV to have one.
You could do a lot with a truck like this; use it in a Courier service, for example, or maybe used by a park Ranger. Being a diesel, its adaptable to locations as diverse as suburban Tacoma or out in the Dakota's.
I'm sure it will have enough power to take you over Mt. Silverado and even through the Sierra Mountains. If it's rugged enough, it would be a good companion for those living in the Tundra or out in the Frontier areas.
It's size might be a concern for those worried about safety, but as long as something Titan-sized does not Ram you, I think you'll be OK.
If the price is not too expensive, say, not Be 2000 over the competition, some companies would order multiple units, I guessss 10 or more.
This is what most "average" consumers of pick-ups, need. Basic, throw-it-in-the-back, hauling of heavy/dirty stuff capability.
No DVD players, no power windows, no power seats, no power mirrors ... maybe A/C and PS, just 'cause some will have to double as daily-drivers.
The price should not be above $16K if they intend to have a fighting chance against two-year old full-size pickups, but honestly, I welcome pretty much any diesel-powered machine, even if I'd never own one.
Vehicles 1, 2, 3 and 4 in my life were -0- option machines; metal, then rubber-covered floor, then back to metal, then vinyl, only #4 had A/C, but none had power anything, and all had tunes only because I put them in.
#1 was a FC '67 Dodge A-108 #2 was an '80 F-100, monkey-shit brown, which was very appropriate #3 was another FC '67 Dodge A-108 #4 was an '86.5 Nissan 720 pickup...and thanks to it, I became dependent on air-conditioning.
Such are true work trucks. Luxury is being able to drive without bugs hitting you directly in the face.

If I manage to get a house of my own in ten years, I'll be acquiring one of these at the same time. Toyota, GM, Nissan, remember when you used to build real small trucks? More of this and fewer bloated, uglified suburban flexers, please.
I find that reviewers tend to be forgiving with new models, especially if they come from a new automaker. We'll see what this thing is actually like when people start spending their own hard-earned money on it.
Pik-up is a little strange for who understands Dutch.
I´ve seen this truck overhere in Brazil and I can say that there is no way to compare this with the older Tacoma / Hilux trucks. Somhow everything feels cheap to this truck.

Probably an awesome basic work truck... as long as you don't need to haul anything heavy or big.
They should give it a more American name, like Brawn-do or something.
