    So, this is basically a fuel-stealing, semi-sentient robot? Does anyone else see this as a bad thing? I didn't think so.

    I saw this the other day. I still think that teh interweb is being punk'd. But I hold out hope that someone will develop a robot that is fueled exclusively by Ashton Kutcher.

    Hey, as long as these things can be corralled into doing my dishes and laundry while I sit back and watch TV in my recliner, I'm all for it. I say bring it on!

    @Mobius_1000_Club: That's the beauty of robot overlords. No clothes, no food; no laundry, no dishes. It's a win-win.

    At first I'm all impressed, then I see a diagram drawn in Excel (or maybe even Word) and I'm a little less impressed.

    Most people are utterly unable to navigate in two dimensions. The hypothetical third dimension is asking for trouble.

    As much trouble that most of the proletariat have with 2 dimensions, you wanna give them a 3rd dimension to navigate??!!???

    Surely Al Gore can handle this. He already took care of one major invention for DARPA. But his anti-global-warming stance might be at odds with the carbon footprint of this vehicle.

    I'll pass. I know I'll probably be the last old grouch on the block who never joined the flying car revolution, continuing to drive my vintage terrestrial car on increasingly dilapidated roads, grumbling obscenities under my breath at the young kids with their modded Mitsubishi Airclipes passing me overhead.

    I just don't feel like getting a pilot's license and extra insurance, risk of death, etc. Flying cars are a great idea on the surface, and probably have valuable applications in the military/intelligence arena, but when you start fleshing out the details for private transportation, it's just a mess.

    I think that personal flying cars would be a huge boon to society. That way when some rich jerk totals his flying Lambo because he thinks that AWD and dynamic traction control will let him do an Immelmann turn in 15mph gusts, his next ride will be in a black chromed Mercedes hearse.

    @WillysWonka:

    I think that would be a Split-S you're talking about; he shouldn't have any problems with an Immelmann.

    They might have to tinker with the whole vertical take off, flight time thing, and a few other fussy points, but a Charger makes for a pretty wicked looking aircraft!
