    My rose-colored nostalgia glasses caused me to forget just how homely the 510s were in 1978... Then again, I was an awkward 14 or 15 years old, and pretty homely myself...

    Those were the days: driving gloves before the term "douche" became widely used in the pejorative, boot-clad ladies, and aircraft that ferried cars around.


    BTW, can anyone name the portly plane?

    @Number_Six: This is in fact a British Built Cargo Plane, and here it is: The Armstrong Whitworth AW 650 Argosy.


    At first I thought it was the Bristol Superfreighter, but it only had 2 engines, and 2 doors in the front:


    Then Maybe the Aviation Traders Carvair, but the wings were too low.


    So it had to be the Armstrong.
