    You know, I love technology. I'm a computer geek and I maintain fairly sophisticated communications equipment for a living, so if it's got knobs and buttons, I'm usually all over it. I don't, however, feel the need to have a computer stuck in my dashboard.


    What I WOULD like to see in my vehicle is an LCD screen that would give me real-time diagnostic information so I could see what the heck the OBDII and CAN systems are doing. Would that be too much to ask?

    Hi hamsters! Post my goddamn comments! kthxbye!


    As far as it goes, it has a slicker interface, but it's not that far beyond what I already have, and mine is single-DIN. The big difference is that this will surf the internet, and I could quite easily mount a Mac Mini in my car, use one of the auxiliary inputs, and do something similar. I give it a one-MEH rating.

    Several problems:
    1) do we really need something else to distract drivers from texting / applying makeup / shaving / changing clothes / (unlikely) driving?


    2) how many cars still have DIN slots - most cars I've seen have 'integrated' systems that won't play nice with 'standards'.


    3) In many jurisdictions, video playback visible by the driver is a no-go.

    These have been around for a while (example here).


    The nerd in me wants to replace my OEM head unit with a double din touchscreen and remote PC for tunes, nav, etc. using either my own cobbled-together software or something like Streetdeck.
