Perry instructs at Audi Club Golden Gate chapter HPDE's. Here's some pix of him in action at Infineon in 08 - [gotbluemilk.com]

His car is VERY fast. I was riding along with an instructor in the instructor group in a nice Porsche and that Lotus was just cutting through the field like something through something.

Perry? It must be the singer of "I Dragoned a Car" fame.

"I dragoned a car and I liked it,
    The taste of Camaro bootlid,
I dragoned a car just to try it,
I hope my motorbike don't mind it,
    It felt so wrong
    It felt so right
Don't mean I'm in love tonight
I dragoned a car and I liked it
    I liked it"

I would totally install a retractable windshield monocle for those days when I am merely posing.

But I guess I am not xtreme or suprlite.

Hey Ben, you should go ahead and explain how the Toyota 2ZZ engine utilizes a Yamaha head, that all federal Elises come with said engine, and hence the Yamaha decal. That would remove a lot of confusion.

The underbelly has retractable straps, so you can carry it around with you when you're done driving! Look, even a hippie girl can manage the bulk!

And you know what else hurts? The rules are so damn simple, anyone can follow them:

Remove top from Halle Berry? Good.

    Remove top from NSX? Bad.

This guy must get tickets left and right for being a California resident and not having a front plate. Kind of like the ticket I got at 5:32 am on Thanksgiving morning.

@pauljones: Why does anyone live in California anymore? It seems like the state is doing everything it possibly can to drive the citizens to move someplace where they are lower-taxed and less underappreciated. If it weren't for Laguna Seca and Infineon, I'd say that the whole thing should slip into the sea. After the move LeMons Worldwide HQ to Vegas or something appropriate like that.

@pauljones: I went without a front plate for a couple years (my dad backed into it and bent the hell out of it) here in the suburbs of SF and never got a ticket. I think it depends on your local law enforcement an how far they are willing to go trolling for citation revenue.

@pauljones: Er, you're kidding, right? In 20 yrs of CA driving, I have never had a front plate. I think I've been hassled once.

What I would worry about is the lack of, you know, a windshield.

@Senor Dos y Do: Because it's really not that bad. Though California has a law on the books that requires a front plate, it isn't heavily enforced. In my case, I think that I got stuck with a dickhead officer who was pissed that he had to work on Thanksgiving morning, and figured if he had to be miserable, other people should be miserable too.

    @jark: @Bad Juju:

Same here. I haven't had a front plate for years, and I've always parked in the same spot across the street from my home, and the same cops passed my car and looked at it everyday, and I just got the ticket for it.

I think it was just a case of an officer bitter about his shift.

Shhh! You've spilled the beans on our supersecret plan - on the intertoobs no less! We're trying to get all the obnoxious "foreigners" that flooded the state back in the 80's and 90's (and then never stopped complaining about how everything is better back home) to move back from whence they came.

I can't decide which is more painful. Chrome Orange in a high dynamic range picture or those kneecap slicing canards.

Needless to say, very cool build. I'd love to hear info about the engine.

Also cool that it has the black Lotus badge from the year Colin died (1982).
