    This is a real shame.

The '55-'62 Coupe deVilles are by far my favorite land-yachts, and this was was ruined by someone who had a lucky night at the Golden Nugget.

Reminds me of the Rolls Royce and other seriously high-end cars there which you see are daily drivers...and I don't mean this in a good way.

Hey, even my phonecam has a wide-angle mode, just step back ten feet before taking the photo.

Also, from the rear view, does anyone else see XJS in the treatment of that rear glass? Do I now need to put Caddy fins on an XJS?

Would this now need to be my theme if ever we had LeMons in the UK?

And nice price too, because my brains all mushy this morning.

I think it would be worth investigating whether this started out as a flower car. If that's the case, that would mean that it's far less hacked up than it appears.

If it was a flower car, nice price, because one could probably restore it fairly reasonably.

If it's a hacked up sedan, this is several hits of crack on wheels.

@Paul Y. can't get in the club; gotta parking lot pimp: I doubt this started life as a flower car - those were usually constructed on the Cadillac-built commercial chassis with extended wheelbase and four doors. Flower cars also had a nearly vertical rear door/tailgate, like a hearse. This looks like what the ad says - based on a Coupe deVille. Odd custom of some interest, but Crack Pipe at $27,000.

If the price were less--a lot less, because I think you lose some money with any custom--but this is pretty damn cool. I would be da bomb leaving Lowe's with some plywood, mulch, drywall, carpet, new mower, step ladder, 20 gallons of paint, and a new stove.

What fucking idiot considers the Black Keys "rap/rock"?

They are southern influenced blues-rock. Very similar to ZZ Top in arrangement, and very Delta in vocals.

They are a two-piece set that produce sound as full as many Zeppelin tracks and as deeply blue as anyone who ever sold his soul at the crossroads.

Also anyone who just said they suck because they wanted something negative to say: Fuck you, suck my dick. You suck.

The car I'm ambivalent about because it's kind of a douchebag car, but I'll admit that sometimes being a douchebag with a Camaro is an attractive option.

I eagerly await the fine chariot chosen to grace the next Hooty and the Blowfish or Semisonic album.

I'm thinking a nice, beige Taurus with plastic wheelcovers and suprisingly decent gas mileage

    @Rust-MyEnemy: Hahaha...Semisonic.

Actually, I'll admit that I have one of their albums on my iPod. I'll even admit that I was the one that bought it rather than trying to pawn the blame off on my sister.

In fact, once in a while, my iPod still pulls up a Semisonic song at random, and I have no problem listening to it. They weren't the worst of their genre, although one or two songs did get horribly overplayed.

@Rust-MyEnemy: Hootie and the Blowfish is a seriously good band. Not kidding. Go listen to Fairweather Johnson for some outstanding, wildly underappreciated and heavily blues-flavored four-piece rock.

@stoke: I probably over-reached myself with the Hootie reference, but here in the UK they only released a couple tracks in the 90s, and they were great, in a "lite" kind of way. Not unpleasant. Enjoyable.

Think Stevie Ray Vaughn meets Jimi Hendrix and they do their thing while the guys from Creedence look on.
No, wait. What I'm trying to say is The Black Keys are awesome, if you like blues/rock, there isn't a pair of white guys out there that are doing it better. I'll be listening to this tonight.

Well, one could say that Rap/rock goes all the way back to Treacherous Three's "The Body Rock" of 1983, as the first rap song to featuer rock-style electric guitar. Now it really isn't important at all, but the song is sweet. I swear I didn't learn all this from Wikipedia.

@LoganSix: So, after much thought onthe subject I have pronounced what I feel to be a just verdict. Now it makes sense that since if a rap group does a rock song the result is rap/rock, then a rock group doing a rap song should also be rap/rock. having been released earlier, Blondie's hit would be te first rap/rock song. However, ask anybody what the first chart-topping rap song really was, and they'll tell you that Rapture was the first to hit number one. And therein lies the rub - Rapture is a straight up rap - there's no rock about it. Sure there's a new wave vibe, but I figure that's mainly due to the nature of the band itself, of the strangeness people feel about Debbie Harry rapping to the beat. Once the rapping starts on rapture, it's all rap, but in The Body Rock, the rap and the rock come together. Thusly, The Treacherous Three are te first to blend rap and rock, whereas Blondie only performed rap as a rock group. As Funkadelic once said, Who says a funk band can't play rock? I ask, Who says a rock band can't play rap?

@voodoojoo: "as the first rap song to featuer rock-style electric guitar"

There is an electric guitar solo in 'Rapture'... "now he only eats guitars, get up"... then the solo. So, based on your initial statement, I'm right.

@LoganSix: yeah, you know that is pretty hard to argue with. I guess I was just in the mindset that all the first rap/rock songs had to be initiated by rap groups, or something. Things were pretty muddle back then in New York, it seems - punks and new wavers hanging out at hip hop clubs and whatnot . Really, any chance I have to think about, really think about really old school rap is a great time.
