Until we saw these spy photos this morning.

Since all the cool kids are doing a sedan with a coupe-like roof-line these days, BMW has to get in on that action and the CS is the perfect car to do it with. EVO caught this one outside BMW's headquarters in Munich apparently making U-turns in a playpen.

The shape of this mule retains much of the concept cars shape with a long low profile, set back green house, and a wide, flat hood. While their shape is very similar, the details on the headlights are a little dumbed down, but that's to be expected going from concept to reality.

We expect BMW to announce the cancellation of the CS any time in order to focus on hydrogen fuel cells, hybrid drive trains, and new rainbow harnessing technology. [EVO]

<![CDATA[BMW Unveils CS Concept, Hopefully For Last Time]]> Before calling his booth babes forth to pull the silk sheet from the CS Concept - a car that was first unveiled in Shanghai almost a year ago - the BMW Exec said that the reason he liked the New York Auto Show was that it give people a chance to see stuff they've already seen, again. We hope you agree with him, because here's he CS concept, again. Allegedly, the CS will form the basis for the design of future luxury models. However, we're beginning to think that they'll simply 'unveil' it at every car show indefinitely into the future.

<![CDATA[BMW Debuting New CS Concept?]]> There's something fishy going on at BMW this morning. We're pretty sure what you see here is just the BMW CS Concept that was shown in Shanghai last year, but some part of us is wishing it's the new luxury flagship that's allegedly being developed along the concept's lines, or maybe even the 2010 5-series. We'll see at 11:10 when the wraps come off.

<![CDATA[Tokyo Motor Show: BMW Confirms New Model Based on CS Platform]]> Here at the Tokyo auto show, in between sips from metal cans of coffee bought at vending machines, we heard BMW bosses confirm a new model based on the platform introduced with the CS concept. That's the sport four-door prototype shown earlier this year in Shanghai. No details yet, though insiders say it could show up as early as Frankfurt 2009, leading with its kidney grille.

<![CDATA[The 1986 Camaro Quadruplets Of Chevy "Exotica!"]]>

There's nothing hotter than the '86 Camaro quadruplets — the Z28, the IROC-Z, the Sport Coupe and the Berlinetta — at least according to the above promotional vid from the General. Let's use our magical powers of hindsight and take a look through the haze of advertising history and try to parse some of the propaganda marketing:

Statement: "Z28, an exotic Camaro, that runs with some of the most advanced sports coupes in the world."
Retort: Seriously — exotic? We're not even touching that one yet. We've always thought an vehicle considered to be "advanced" is one without exposed wiring but I guess it depends on what GM meant by "most advanced sports coupes." If they're talking horsepower, we're just going to need to exclude any vehicle with an engine capable of hitting 220 hp. Actually, since it's the Z28 — let's lop the list off at any vehicle able to top a buck-ninety. If however they're talking about the ability to remove sections of your roof and store them in your trunk, then yeah — it's one advanced vehicle. Just ignore the water seeping in through the roof.

Statement: "Performance, powered by a gutsy five-liter V8 engine..."
Retort: Only if gutsy means "showing spirit" like a "Thomas The Tank Engine" story where Thomas tries really hard but still fails. If however the General meant gutsy in the usual definition — "courageous, bold, plucky, fearless, ballsy" — we're thinking that's not so much true.

Statement: "Dressed for action, with functional rear spoiler..."
Retort: Hmm...not sure...I feel like maybe we're missing something here...

Statement: "Held to the road with sport-tuned shocks and stabilizer bars..."
Retort: ...and there it is. If the Z28's gripping the road so well because of those sport-tuned shocks and stabilizer bars, with no mention of the rear spoiler — how exactly is it "functional" again?

Statement: "Z28, a designation you've probably seen many times...especially from the rear."
Retort: Well of course we have, because the back is where the party is, right?

Statement: "The Berlinetta, the most elegant of all Camaros..."
Retort: Well yeah, that's true — it is more elegant than all the rest. But hitting that bar's like showing up at a downriver fish fry in a tuxedo t-shirt.

Statement: "...proof positive that exotica wears a Chevy bowtie."
Retort: And speaking of tuxedo t-shirts and downriver, isn't "Exotica" a gentleman's club in Wyandotte?

So remember kids, don't believe everything you watch on YouTube.

<![CDATA[Exec Says, BMW to Launch Car Based on CS Concept]]>

If you thought BMW's CS Concept was a hottie, we've got good news. If you thought it was ungainly and overstylized, just keep moving — nothing to see here. Word from Automotive News today is that BMW — right in line with the rumor mill — will build a top-end four seater based on the CS, which BMW introduced at the Shanghai auto show last month. The range topper would face off with other future low-roofline sedans, like the Porsche Panamera and Aston Martin Rapide, and as well with the current Mercedes CLS. The best AS could get from BMW is a "probably" from BMW of North America boss Tom Purves, based on the company's past record of building cars introduced as concepts, like the Z4 Coupe ad 2003 BMW xActivity. The market, Purves says, is above the 7 series but below the Rolls-Royce models, a ceiling set to lower when Rolls introduces a new entry sedan in the coming years. Apparently the sexed-up sedan will become a predominate construct in the coming years. Now all we need is a good segment identifier, since "four-door coupe" is cumbersome. Sexadan? GT limo? Midlife compromise?

<![CDATA[More About Angry Face: New Video of BMW CS Concept]]>

This is the second video to hit the hinterlands and interwebs of BMW's new four-door coupe concept the CS. So don't be fooled by the fact that it's claiming "world premiere." Still, at least this one features some decent production value and down-tempo trance. No word on specs, but if the CS is going to compete against the Porsche Panamera and Aston Martin's Rapide four-doors - both of which will probably show up to the gun fight packing 500+ horses - the Bavarian is going to need a V10.
