One of my former professors has a triple green Coupe de Ville of similar vintage. Despite the dual stigmas of the Malaise Era and pimpdom, these things are still plenty classy to my eye.
You guys talking about the torque in these things aren't kidding. I had to do some driveway wrangling to get my car out during one of my dad's parties. A friend of his drove an '84 Brougham.
I got in and started it up and shifted into reverse.
Tapped the gas and lurched backward.
Pressed the spongy brake pedal almost to the floor to stop.
Turned the wheel and shifted to D.
Tapped the gas and lurched forward.
Repeated the process until I had enough room to get my car out.
Yeah, an Audi 5000 has nothing on this car when you're talking unintended acceleration.
Back in high school we used to roll 6 deep in one of these, windows down slightly, smoke billowing out of both the exhaust and the passenger compartment. Good times.
My parents had a neighbor who had one of these. I belive it was a 78 or 79, black with red interior. I don't think it ever went faster than 15mph, and it was strictly a sunday driver.
Now that I think of it, after he died, I wonder what happened to it. His wife is still alive, and the Caddy probably hasn't been driven in years.
My dad had a 77 Lincoln Town Coupe until a few years ago. I really wish that car was still alive. However, after a tree fell on it, and then vandals, it would have taken a lot of effort to get it back to show car status. Oh well. Anyway, that car had the same size tires as my old ford ranger: 235/75R15
@dmdukejr: You might be dating yourself there... I'd suspect that many of our fellow commentariat would think that Layla was elevator music played on an accoustic guitar, not hard-driving fuzz guitar.

I've always hated those barges with a passsion, but the interiors do make the best living rooms.

@NovaloadMissesPolar: I've heard that some might even dispute that Clapton is GOd. Fuckin' kids these days.
