@SaphalaKhavaran: What more do you want. I stood in front of the engine display with GM powertrain engineers as they pointed at the crank and said "forged steel" and followed it up with "hand built next to the LS7 and LS9."
Wow. Growing up in the 80's in a British post-colonial nation heavily under the Japanese automotive influence, I never really got American sports cars. If fact, every time I read those three words in a sentence, it was followed by raucous laughter by readers (and sometimes the writers). I lusted after the E30 M3's, The Escort Cosworths (American in name only) and the Lotus Esprits but nothing could have prepared me for lusting after a Corvette.
This may be the perfect sports car. Affordable (relatively), Very fast (sub 4 second 0-60 and 400 HP HAND BUILT Engine!). That $53 K B8 S4 that I just configured is looking very, very silly right now.
Wow. Give me a dark gray one without the silly stripes and with plain silver wheels. It's the world's most discreet, reliable, serviceable, and affordable supercar. And, yes, anything that can do 0-60 in 3.9 and top out over 190 mph is a supercar.
This is the performance bargain of the...decade? Not too long ago 430hp was exotic territory, now it's the base Vette engine. The Z06 bodywork makes the car, IMHO. The Z06 is badass, but where can you use anywhere near its performance potential other than on a track? (legally & safely) I guess you could say the same for the LS3 car too. Tough to decide which looks better - coupe or convert.
They did mean forged steel vs cast iron crank, right?
Sounds perfect to me. Z06 is a lot more motor than most people driving these can manage, and I like the idea of adding pieces that add durability and usability opposed to fluffing marketing specs.
My only real gripe with the Vette (I won't mention the dreaded "I" word) is the company it puts you in. I find the stripes on this silver one a tad prickish, like a GT500 or GT3 RS. Can we get a delete option?
I've never seriously considered buying a Corvette before, and I still have a bad taste in my mouth from the G8 execution that makes me want to tell GM to go eat a bag of you-know-what instead of giving them 50K.
But.
This is a seriously tempting piece of machinery. Packaging all of this kit together without making you pay for the AL frame and big motor of the Z06 is sheer genius (though between this and the ZR1 it makes me wonder how many Z06s they are going to sell).
I'm not sure I want to buy new and enjoy the Demon Drop depreciation, but in a year or two? Maybe. Just maybe.

As I've said, the 'Vette is the performance bargain of the century.
Ferrari: fekkin fast, fekkin fussy. To keep it alive you'll have to sell a kidney.
Lamborghini: there's a raging bull on the hood for a reason, boyo. Pay attention, or get gored.
Viper: fekkin fast, unrefekkinfined. If UPS drove sports cars, this would be it. What can brown do for you, indeed.
'Vette: fekkin fast, fekkin flexible. How many rides out there can roll up 300kph on the clock, then unload weird great-aunt Jean and her teacup collection? Not fekkin many. Any guy who's turned a wrench on an SBC will find himself in familiar territory - damned upscale territory, but he knows the street names and can find the major landmarks. All this, and you can afford it. Hell, I can afford it, and that's saying something.
@Dr.Danger owns the city turkeys: This color combo was in the presentation packet but not available at the drive. It's probably for the best as you might have seen the latest Jalopnik dragoning pictures today.

@RLJ676-LS3 Commuter Car - for the environment: Same. The above two are easily my favorite, but I have to give my nod to the classic blue/red. The article one is probably the most boring possible...

Nice ride though.

It really announces its presence when optioned with the telltale hash marks sprouting from the wheel wells. "
The stripes are optional. So, yes, you can get a "delete" package by not ordering them.

I can scrape one set of those stripes off, right?

True, the classis GS blue looks great as well. I just tend to have "murdered out" or "storm troopered" cars (at least my last 3 have been.)
