OK. So we get rid of a fast four door, (G8 GXP Pontiac) but we keep the much less practical fast two door (Chevy Corvette). I guess this makes sense to somebody. I am actually very happy that they aren't killing the Vette, but I don't think that a lot of those in the market for a G8 GXP are going to move upmarket to the CTS. Just saying.
@cchannel ~ Canal Si: Oddly, yeah. I actually had trouble keeping up with one of the G8 GXP's I ran into until it hit twisties. Keep in mind, I drive a massaged R32. The GXP's rock man.
I see them once or twice a day, actually. There is a white GT that I frequently wind up driving in the same lump of cars with on the way to work in the morning, and there is a black base model a few blocks down from me.
While we will certainly lose the Pontiac G8, I would bet that we will see the same basic car return as a Chevrolet. There is just no way that they would waste that much development time and money like that; not even GM is that bad.
And as long as it's the same basic car, who cares what badge is on it?
So, wait. Will someone who understands Corvette-lore explain this to me? They just came out with the ZR1. SO. Why are they working on a C7 that will be a derivative of an older model that isn't as fast?
@boosted-lego-wagon -> now boosted to 350hp: Damn skippy - even if my Cavalier shares approximately zero parts with any Corvette, ever, it still must be a great car, right?
When are we going to hear about that lightweight monocoque two seater that GM is going to produce? You know, the one where they pull the CO2 out of the air to make the carbon fiber chassis, and use algae based biodiesel in its 1.1 liter ceramic turbodiesel for over 100MPG combined city/highway?

Peter: This is worse than that joke I told the other day; A woman has two children. A homicidal murderer tells her she can only keep one. Which one does she let him kill? Brian: That's... that's not a riddle. That's ... that's just terrible. Peter: Wrong, the ugly one!

But it'll look really good on my Prizm, with a bikini babe lolling on the fender.
