    Sure, a separate boat and car would be cheaper, but this guy will get the laugh last when he drives straight into the lake and you have to take the time to drop in and unhook and end up getting eaten by the zombies.

    Sorry, but that looks like a lot of fun.
    I hope they make a few of these and they have the combined depreciation of a car and a boat. Then I can pick one up in 5 years or so.

    An amphibian with a 60mph top speed in the water would allow me to get from St. Catharines to Toronto in a reasonable amount of time (~1hr) without touching the QEW/Gardiner.

    Working there instead of working in Niagara would add between 30 and 50k to my salary. If that thing comes with a heater powerful enough to repel 40-below-in-the-middle-of-a-lake, it basically justifies itself financially.

    Added bonus: Shorter trips to Cedar Point.

    @Alfisted:

    Kills the economics, as both cars and the boat would have to be separately insured and maintained. Plus, I would need to park in Toronto, and pay the city's exorbitant car-ownership tax. Finally, no available parking near the lake shore, so I would need to pay for a cab to get to my toronto-stored car.

    @High Speed Indeed: Lake Ontario is too deep to ever freeze. It's a bigger lake than it looks like on a map.

    However, not driving on the QEW between Niagara and Toronto would be pretty nice.

    Considering the going rate for a seaworthy Amphicar is in the $40k-$60k range these days, maybe $200k isn't too out of line for a [more than 4 times] faster carboat.

    I'd still rather have the Amphicar, with it's tire rudder steering, and 7 knots top end when seafaring, because at least the Amphicar is cute.

    This thing, not so much.

    @dolo54 blows minds and blows engines!: Come to think of it, that is a damn good point. Why can't we have seating like that in a nice big convertible... Like, say, an old Lincoln Continental.

    Someone find Ben, we've gotta pitch an idea to him.
