How did these vehicles handle compared to the regular first-generation Corvair? I would think Chevy would have given them a standard anti-sway bar from the outset, but weight distribution might have been a bit worse.

How did Corvair miss this?

If you don't get tires of me rambling on, read my latest posting about the Obscure Muscle Car, the Turbocharged Corvair!

It was cheaper to stamp a new panel, and it only used one bulb for illumination (vs 2), and it was cleaner looking. Here's a 1963:

But this is probably the coolest van this side of one with an F1 engine. Speaking of which, here's proof of general French insanity:

The design was such a weird mix of smart and weird, maybe even deranged.
As in this--crashtastic carnage would be inevitable!
But then, rear engine to balance the weight better, deluxe camping options, including a tent on the roof.
Ah, Chevy. Please come back soon.

Judging by the cool original black plates on the one in the post,it may not have seats at all in the back, those are commercial plates, cargo van.Or,who knows, maybe ANY van was considered a commercial vehicle back then in my native state.

I don't know about coming loose, but those seat frames do look like they'd fold up if you looked at them too hard.

I dont know what kind of universe ya running over there Murilee, but this has got to stop.
A Chevy Corvair GREENBRIER?!
Ya might as well bring in the golden unicorns with stripes on the sides and gold bars coming out the rear.. that only appear after rainbows and CARPOCOLPYSES!
*bows down*
I am so not worthy..
of seeing such majesty as this.
62 Corvair Greenbriar.
Need to stop staring and take a picture.. might never see one again in my life time.
Then again..
Alameda has to be a parelell universe.. cause this type of majesty isnt seen in PA / NJ / DE / MD.

Un-freaking-believable.
No one in my family can understand why Alameda has risen to the top of the "must go" travel list.

That would make for an interesting TV show...

I used to work for a division of CSX when they still owned The Greenbrier. But last I heard, the Greenbrier was bankrupt and up for sale, eventually purchased by a local guy with promises to restore it to its former beauty - and allow some 'tasteful' gambling.
An interesting parallel to Chevrolet, is it not?

Supposedly the turnaround is already going well. The underground casino should open in the spring and they're fixing some of the neglect that crept in over the years.
