I've never been a smartass and have always done what told, taken my tickets, and kept my mouth shut. I learned that very early as I watched my teenage friends go off to jail. I did the very same thing they did but they got lippy.
I've found myself in a couple compromising situations through the years. I was a reckless youth when I was late teens, early 20's. I've done some really really stupid shit with cars. I'm lucky I did most of it before "it" turned into felonies.
Don't be like me kids.

Funny thing after I stopped drinking and doing drugs, and changed the crowd I was running with. I stopped getting have as many problems with cops, and no I still get stopped but now they are just doing their jobs...

Because just like an angry grumpy pack of hyena's, they all sit around and eat with each other, talking about past kills (aka arrests) and joking about how tomorrow they have to nab 4 or 5 guys in a row.
I hate cops, if only because 90 percent of them don't know how to follow the laws they're trying to preach.

Again, I generally behave myself, and the few times I've been caught doing something naughty -- all vehicle-related -- I knew I was in the wrong,, told him as much, offered an explanation, and treated him with respect. In return, he invariably treated me with respect, and treated me fairly. Sometimes that meant a ticket, sometimes a warning. If you maintain that attitude towards police officers, it's about 700% more likely that you'll get strip-searched and de-loused, rather than sent on your way.

I had a few friends that drove old fords that drove... irresponsibly (ie: finding car's top speed (130+) on a not-empty public highway at night) that, because of the way their car looked, would not get pulled over by the same police, travelling the same speed, as I would.
That aside, I totally agree that treating a cop respectfully will do amazing things in the way of preventing nasty scenes. People are still people--a badge does not grant them a collective consciousness or mean they've deserted their moral values.

Of COURSE you get pulled over more. You have a sports car. Yes, your friends have been more irresponsible, but that old Ford can't do half the stuff your sports car can do. If I maxed out my old Ranger, I'd do, what, 150, 160 km/h? My current car would probably do that in 3rd gear. There's a much greater risk of injury or damage the higher the speeds.
Your car was designed to be a performance vehicle, to do things other cars can't do, and to attract you a lot of attention. That means you're going to get a lot of attention from the police as well. To use the parlance of your age-group, "Yeah. No shit, Sherlock." If that causes any problems for you, I'll happily buy your 300ZX from you.
Now forgive me, I have no beef against you personally, but I'm using you as a foil for teenagers in general. Your statements, which boil down to, "everybody's pickin' on me", are a huge irritant for me. YES. THEY ARE.
When you're a teenager, you don't know shit about shit, you do nothing productive in society but wreck shit, and think everyone should bend over backwards to cater to you. This isn't a shot against you, BenjaminD, this is a statement of fact in general. I still clearly remember being a teenager, and I remember what I was like as a teenager. If you are a teenager, and you disagree with me in the slightest, shut the fuck up, bookmark this page, and come back to it when you're at least 23. Then, feel free to send me an email, telling me that you now realize how right I was.
It's for this reason that I think teenagers shouldn't have high-performance cars, shouldn't have expensive cars, and shouldn't have classic cars. Not until they're a productive part of society should they be allowed that privilege. Disagree with me all you like, the simple fact is, I'm right, and if you disagree with me now, you won't in a few years.
