    Totally do able.
    And frankly, they know they're cursed. they had a black mark on their head from day one. So let them race the half race and have fun! If they're taking it so well, they know what's up.
    Maybe someone will be a dive bombing asshole on track and take the curse...
    So long as they're not like those bullshitting miata guys that packed it onto the trailer and drove away (which should have them banned from LeMons for LIFE, by the way) then who cares? #24hoursoflemonstexas

    Seriously though, the $500 limit should be based on retail, not wholesale value.

    Is everyone here serous? The fact that they got it below $500 by selling off interior parts AFTER buying it rolled is very realistic.

    For EX. a good friend of mine who deals with salvaged cars daily picked up a rolled 2005 Sentra Spec V with 38k miles for $900, that RAN AND DROVE. Quiet decently too. There was easily $400 worth of interior that could have been sold.

    Granted a rolled mini S would be more around 2.5 to 3.5K but the interior parts on Minis are far more expensive then a sentras.

    This is very believable and it amazes me how Jalops are not more in tune with the salvage car industry.

    Funny though how my friend did not want to LeMons it for the very reason that he didnt think people would believe all of the official paperwork. #24hoursoflemonstexas

    What difference does it make if Jalops are in tune with the salvage industry?

    The fact is these guys brought a car worth $25,000-30,000 to an amateur race for cars worth $500. How is that in the spirit of LeMons?

    The salvage guys could have brought anything to the race. Why not dredge up an '84 Ford Tempo with a real value of 50 cents and enter that?

    What's stopping a NASCAR team from "donating" an old car and engine, and showing up with a full-on race hauler and pit crew? Sure, they could show on paper that the thing is "worth" $500 but everyone knows they're looking at a race operation worth close to $400,000 (value of car + hauler + personnel).

    If guys want to bring a high dollar race car to the event, I say let them. Give them a massive penalty, let them start the race, pull them off the track at some point, and crush the car in front of everyone. The rule book interpreters/manipulaters get what they want and the spirit of the event is preserved. Everybody wins. #24hoursoflemonstexas

    @Uncle Bo: Agree with everything you say, especially the whole spirit vs. letter of the law stuff-but saying that, these guys seem to have the right spirit, if their attitude has been portrayed correctly. What you don't want is people bringing a race car to "win" a fun race, and then disappearing when they get called to the crusher. Can anyone say Spec Miata?

    I will argue your value estimate for their car at "25,000-30-000". This is obviously a rollover, was totalled by the insurance company, and is worth its salvage value, whatever that is. #24hoursoflemonstexas

    @Uncle Bo: I believe the whole point of lemons is to make racing affordable for everyday people. Well this mini is very affordable and yet i am sure there are some old E30s and hondas with WAY more money invested that could easily be better around a track.

    And it doesnt REALLY matter if jalops are in tune with the salvage business but it sure is funny how everybody assumes they are cheating for sure when it probably cost less then some of the track warrior "$500" E30s. This is a very realistic way for people to compete in Lemons. However im going to wait and see till more of these types of cars are entered before attempting to prove that yes it is possible to have a late model camaro LT1 compete well within the $500 range, thanks to the salvage industry. #24hoursoflemonstexas
