If I was a rich playboy with money and nothing else to do I would set up a ramp, buy twelve yachts and play a game of Sea Darts.

I bet they ream you when they make you buy the tow package for the Bentley separately. There's always a catch.

Ha! Just this morning, I received an email explaining that I have won five Bentleys. Once they get my check for the processing and taxes, I'll have one for every day of the week. Suckers!

@Tomsk mourns the Jezebanned: No coupon - but you have to actually pay for the Bentley up front, and then send in a rebate card to get your money back. They're banking on most people forgetting about it, like I just did with my f'ing Sears appliance rebate.

I read on Consumerist that's a bait and switch. When you sign papers they claim the Bentleys are out of stock and they give you an "equal value" Rolls Phantom instead.

*sigh*... at least they combined two cars this time to make this one so their is at least a sort of originality if only in the details. But really China... still? I thought you learned from my lasts posts on the subject.

@Tiberiuswise: In 1988, I travelled from Korea with a shipload of Daewoo (Pontiac) Lemanses. They were unbelievably insubstantial and crappy--much closer to an overbuilt go-cart than a proper car.

Fast-forward nineteen years to Pebble Beach, where the Hyundai Genesis is attracting quite a bit of attention--and some disbelief--just down the road from the Aston-Martin display.

It doesn't take long, unfortunately, and these folks are really motivated.

@Woodgrain: Are you referring to carmakers in general, or Asians, or Koreans/Chinese? Because while there are a few Chinese auto manufacturers that are coming up with new and interesting designs, it seems that many of them are just focusing on mimicking the look of successful cars from other companies in hopes that the positive associations will follow. I think it'll still be a little while before they devote the time, money, and attention needed to increase the safety and quality of their vehicles and feel confident selling their cars on their own merits.
