    i did a happy dance when i heard the news this morning. i don't know as much about the industry as you guys and girls, but i used to live near this factory. the eastside really needed some good news, there's enough brownfields and abandoned factories in that neighborhood already.

    @domino: I hear that. Conner Avenue is hallowed ground in my book. The artistic, monstrously powerful cars that have rolled out of that building are just incredible.

    @GasGuzzler: why haven't i heart clicked you yet? :)

    i know a guy who built the viper there. the pride he took in his work was unlike any modern american factory worker i've met. and he loves driving vipers as much as building them.

    In Flanders Fields the Vipers blow

    Between the minivans row on row,

    That mark our place; and in the sky

    The Jeeps, still bravely singing, fly

    Scarce heard amid the guns below.

    We are the Dead. Short days ago

    We rolled, felt speed, saw exhaust glow,

    Drove and were driven, and now we lie

    In Flanders fields.

    Take up our quarrel with the foe:

    To you from failing hands we throw

    The torch; be yours to hold it high.

    If ye break faith with us who die

    We shall not sleep, though Vipers grow

    In Flanders fields.

    How to make Chrysler profitable:

    1. Axe everything that isn't the Viper and the Jeep Wrangler and possibly the Cherokee

    2. Fill up the rest of the model lineup with Fiat's

    3. ????

    4. PROFIT!!!

    What's up with the BIW monocoque body in the background? Looks like someone found a stolen and stripped shell on the side of the road.

    This and the Jeep Wrangler are the only somewhat desirable current Chrysler models I can think of... can anybody come up with any more?

    @alpinerover: No. Wrangler, Viper, done.

    Maybe it's the time has passed that we should take Chrysler to a nice quiet spot in the yard and start digging a hole.

    Well, c'mon, you can't let the grass grow tall around the car you want to sell, you have to push it out of the way, mow, then roll it back up to the road. Nobody will want Viper if they don't make anything at the factory.
