I'm not about to stop posting this, in case you were wondering. So far it's been cooler than anything I've put it up against, but I also don't own a Grand Nationamino.

Oh, and if a certain plecostomus should show up in here, here's my other bike.

I like naked bikes (Ducati Monster anyone?) but these are just really kinda fugly... They're too busy, ergonomics are crap, and I've really got to wonder about the handling. May just be the angles on the photo's, but doesn't look like much rake on the front ends....

@Pleco, king of the junkyard: Walk into a dark closet with about 30 people and 3 bikes in it. Bring us good photos of those bikes and we'll agree with you.

I wouldn't say the bikes are "Terminator-inspired". Confederate has been around since 1991, long before any two-wheeled killer robot became a part of the movie series. I know I'm not reading a Pulitzer publication but there is still a standard for accuracy isn't there?

@F_munk: It's called selling an article to an audience that's typically not interested in bikes. I think you find a lot better info and better writing here than you do at any of our lauded print competitors.

As a cycle nut, I have sat on a couple of these bikes, and talked to people who own them. In general, they are design exercises, to push the limits of two-wheel design. If you buy one, it's kind of like buying rolling art. Sure, they are expensive, and they have some significant limitations, but they are pretty much collectors items, for all that. They certainly aren't practical. So you don't really get one to exercise it regularly in traffic. There may be someone who does, but they would have to be masochists. Machinist masochists. With a serious lust of billet. That about sums it up...

Where is this information about shoddy reliability coming from, I can't find it anywhere.

I don't know. It's kind of cool, but at the same time, you would look like an asshole riding it. And yes, I'm talking about the bike.

They're probably not, but those headlights look like the cheap-ass $40 fog lights that I used to see on all those stickered up rice tuner wannbes Civics like ten years ago.

@Orgasmatron: I would have to agree. Looks like they ran out of one-size fits all moto headlights and ran down to their local autozone to find something that fit.

    Confederate Wright? You mean Wraith.

So. I knew that they were based in Louisiana and they were hit hard by Katrina. So they moved to Alabama, huh? At least they're in business. Good for them.

Probably more reliable than OCC bikes, at least.

\wife used to work at a Harley dealership.

\\Had many customers try to trade in an OCC bike.

@jchabotte: Why go to a Harley dealer to buy a more reliable bike? Go Suzuki, Honda or Yamaha, then you´ll be fine.
