Stunning car. Always liked the brown on this. The early 250 SWBs look best in a powder blue or ivory.
There were earlier supercars, however. The Maserati 5000GT, Ferrari's 410 Superamerica, and Pegaso Z-102 were all just as fast and belonged to the '50s. All of them comfortable tourers.
The difference I guess is that the Lusso could handle the corners a lot better.
This might be my favorite car on the planet. That being said, I'm most impressed that his car collection never reached critical mass, causing some sort of manly singularity that would smell like Old Spice if anything could escape its immense gravitational pull.
Come on, this parked next to his XKSS, 911, and all of those motorcycles? Possibly the end of the universe itself.
There is a good reason why I have a pic of this car as my monitor wallpaper. I think it may be the most beautiful car ever made, certainly the most beautiful Ferrari existent.
Y'all can have the F430's and the 599's. Keep em. I'll just take this one little brown car for my very own, thankyouverymuch.
Thanks, Pete, for the post and the pics. Lil' Jalops everywhere need to know about cars like this one. Modern supercars are nice and all but they'll never ever have the style, class, beauty and sophistication of a car like this. Could their possibly be a car that is more McQueen?
Years ago, at a car show, I came upon a lovely 308GTS. It was an unusual shade of metallic rootbeer- more brown than red, offset by a biscuit interior. The color was so startling, especially against the verdant lawn below, that I became immediately enamored with the car. I have not seen it, or another in this hue since, but still, to this day, fantasize about it.
McQueen's Lusso is another personal conquest that I will never fulfill, but boy is it fun to dream. Thanks for the fodder Pete.
@Steve Neill: "The Dagger DX. I was beginning to think it only existed in your dreams."
Here's some trivia for ya: 1) The gold 308 from "Knight Rider" was modified by George Barris, and I think I read somewhere that it was his personal car, and 2) the original teleplay for that episode called for a Vector W2. Apparently, Gerry Weigart had something else to do that day.
@Pessimipposaurus: Very nice! The best thing about it is that it doesn't look like a pampered collection car, although it probably is. Not that it shouldn't, I would Seal-A-Meal it if I had one.

Why in the world would anyone watch that moron pretend to be The Man? You can see plenty of footage of the real deal.
Hollywood is creatively bankrupt and should be shut down with no bailout.
As for the car--I'll be back in a minute.

Well, if you changed the title of this post to "most beautiful automotive WIN ever made", I doubt you would get as much disagreement.

And to answer yesterday's gushy romantic QOTD: yes, but only for this car.

And yes, it's the most beautiful road going Ferrari of its age, and probably even to date.

I know that he had a bron mini, and may just have dreamt that elaborate plot, however.
Was it the Ferrari that had the custom Von Dutch glove box?

Frankly, I would be embarrassed to let the car see me in anything less.

McQueen's is stunning. It's very similar to one I saw last year.

Needless to say, my photographic skills would never match this car.

I believe it's brown, but the blue morning light makes it look purple.
