They're not SUV-focused. They're Evolution-focused. How many consumers can name a current Mitsubishi model other than that? I'm sure some folks know someone who owns a Lancer, or perhaps they once rented an Outlander. If they remember the Galant name, it'll be in the context of "they still make that?"
Mitsubishi's only real chance, it seems to me, is to offer sporty cars - Mazda-style, but with an authentic STI competitor - and off-road SUVs, and not apologise for it.
"SUV-focused nameplate"? For the last five years, they've been more focused on the Lancer than anything else, leaving the Endeavour and Galant to rot on the vine.
I like the facelifted Outlander, though. Strangely up to this point Mitsu has had the tamest-looking version of the global trucklet also sold as a Peugeot and Citroen. #mitsubishi
