I call BS on this one. We all know that cars "aimed at the young" end up being bought by old people trying to look hip. All of those cars look way too hard to climb into for the real target demographic. #conceptcars
Once again Audi and Mazda are the only noteworthy examples of clear design direction. While the other manufacturer's run nillywilly with their nonsensical unfocused designs, Audi and Mazda have instantly recognizable elements that hopefully survive to 2030. #conceptcars
Once you enter your destination into the navi app on your smart phone, you can play against the vehicle to "win" complete control over the system and gain access to increasingly outrageous driving scenarios.
I love the sound of this. I think it'll be hilarious to see kids being forced to square off against a War Games computer every time they want to go somewhere. Didn't make the high score? The car's taking you to Boise! Wanna go to Starbucks? Fat chance, gotta beat the Parnelli Jones boss at his own game! Why didn't you go to school today, Junior? I was driving there, but I couldn't get the Star Power 4x multiplier at 48,375 points and the car sent me the wrong way down an on-ramp! #conceptcars
The year: 1978
The maker: Honda
The engine: 1024cc, 24v I6 generating over 100hp. For the day, it is a bruiser cruiser, a mighty superbike, a factory crotch rocket.
Welcome to the party, BMW. You're late, but we're glad you're here. #bmw
@Elhigh: Bingo. Funny thing; I think Honda marketed it as a 1000cc for two years, then as an 1100 without changing the displacement of the engine. Here's a pic since no-one else has posted one yet.
Honda has been doing 6-cylinder bikes for more than 30 years, and they've even toyed with putting one in a sport bike, but I guess it's good to see BMW considering it as well. I wouldn't be surprised if they put it in a sport bike, but I agree that it's probably destined for a tourer - they already have a 175HP engine in their K1300S and the only reason I can think of to engineer a 6 cylinder is to provide for a smoother ride at the expense of extra weight. #bmw
I don't like bikes as a general rule, but I do like this one. My current car only has 150 hp. It weighs about 3300lbs. It also only has about 150 lb-ft of torque.
This is insanity barely held together by a few bits of titanium. And I love it. #bmw
@ThreeLitre: I know how you feel. I used to have no interest in bikes whatsoever but 3 years ago, all that changed.
I was driving to work and a guy pulled up next to me at a light, and he was riding some sort of Triumph. The moment I saw the machine, something in my brain went *pop!* - all of a sudden, I understood the appeal.
I got to work and hit the Triumph website and discovered that the object of my newly discovered moto-lust was a Speed Triple - an 1050cc inline 3 cylinder. I had to have one. Some friends intervened and talked me out of a maniacally powerful bike as my first-ever, so I got a used Triumph Speed Four instead.
Maybe this is the bike that will do it for you! #bmw
@Botswana Meat Commission FC: Since when does the "typical rider" need 175hp? I've scared myself years ago with my 120hp V65 Magna. How much power does one really need on a bike?

I ride a bike with 65 hp and it gets me through Atlanta traffic every day. Actually, I was riding a stupid-powerful K1200GT recently with, I'm guessing, at least 135 hp, and it's WAY more power than anyone will ever need in a street bike. #bmw
@Turbineguy - now with reheat!!: Cheers to that. My 550lb bike with 85hp is still faster than 98% of the cars on the road. And there just aren't that many opportunities to do 0-60 in four seconds when there's some dozy twit in a Nissan Versa in front of you on the on-ramp.
I always find reading Euro bike-mags amusing when they start bitching about the EU potentially capping motorcycles at 100HP - sure it's Communist and all, but a 430lb R1/FireBlade/ZX-10R with a supposedly limp-wristed 100HP is still a racebike with lights. #bmw
@Peugeot 504 - the Car for Nigeria: The brits are the absolute worst about this. That country must be absolutely full of middle aged dentists riding around in race leathers on brand new R1s. #bmw
@Botswana Meat Commission FC: The leathers have to be the funniest part of that. You can't wear race leathers with a gut. And in a country with so many speed cameras the whole enterprise just seems like a waste of time. I really don't know what the point of having a bike that does 80mph in 1st gear is if you're threatened with losing your license for going 1mph over the speed limit three times. So you don't, and instead you're just a 45-year-old dude dressed like the circus is coming to town, tooling around at 25mph. #bmw

So, because of the engine's width, is it going to four water-cooled cylinders flanked by one air-cooled one on each side? #bmw
