You can leave your gigantic encumbering booty behind so you can go find Ripley and kill her. Score!

I knew I'd seen something kinda like this once:

    Plymouth Voyager III
The front part pops off to be a little scootabout when you don't need the extra volume.
And now when I want it, I can't find a picture of the old "hitch the camper to the roof of your compact for easily maneuverability" idea.

I think the union of the sets of RV enthusiasts and lovers of modern design is pretty small. It might even be small enough that it consists entirely of the guy who designed this.

ive been looking since the story posted, but does anyone remember the old concept RV from NAIAS about 10-15 years ago. it had the same concept of having a detachable 2-seater. i believe it was silver.

and it looked like a suppository

I gotta agree with 'robber: going in through that rear entrance is going to feel a bit like performing a Colimoscopy.

Man that rear entrance reminds me of a . . . well, never mind, but I think a Great Dane would probably sully this thing's reputation first chance it got.

    Oh Susana,

Look what you've made for me.

Cause I've come from Louisiana with a detachable RV.

Took me a bit to find it. Similar idea, but funny enough when a defunct division of a car company we're worried about closing its doors created a better idea in this twenty years ago than is created today...

I woke up this morning with a bad hangover
And my RV was missing again.
    This happens all the time.
    It's detachable.

Is the fuel efficiency gained by not having a gap between the car and trailer? That's the only thing I can see. The car still has to carry the added weight and, it appears, that the frontal area isn't any less than a standard car/trailer combo.

It is a nifty concept, though. It reminds me of Luigi Colani.
