    As kick-to-the-jaw awesome as the Group B beasts were, the rear-drive machinery that preceded them (Escort RS, Ascona 400, 131 Abarth, Sunbeam Lotus, et al) were just as rad, IMO. #kenblock

    Excellent vid! How did they get a UK plated Escort Mk2 in the states though?

    Even with no sound (at work) I can still quite clearly hear what that engine sounds like at full chat in my head... Nothing sounds quite like a rallyed up Escort!

    I watched Ken mash this car into the trees at the rally in Quebec this year. First stage wamm-o! He was favored to win the weekend. It was really sad to see him out. The car looked spectacular though. #kenblock

    This is great.
    For the past years (I'm thinking 1997-2008), the so-called "money years", the emphasis culturally in our world has been on money, bling, luxury and other superficial marketing-based crap; this translated "automotively" in super expensive flashy customs and racing trends such as "drifting" and all that other fast n furious inspired crap.
    Now that we're all broke, those values aren't so dominant anymore and I hope that people will gravitate towards more authentic stuff such as grassroots racing and maybe rally racing.

    Jalopnik has always more or less understood that, but videos like this one might convince the wider public.
    So +1 mr Block #kenblock

    Psst...Block and Atkinson have been reported to be the drivers for the new Monster Energy Drink WRC team for the upcoming WRC season. Scuttlebutt says they'll be driving select events in an '09 Focus WRC before going to the WRC Spec Fiesta and a full calender the following year. If true, than that makes this "team building"....and a whole lot of fun. #kenblock

    "Vintage" seems relative here. Its got the body of an Escort but if nothing was shown but the interior i'd have mistook it for a modern day rally car. #kenblock

    @BigEngineSmallCar: How much fun would an entry-level rally series be using 2WD cars? Seems like it could be way more affordable if you set up the specs right. I wonder what platforms people would choose. #kenblock

    @snapoversteer 'bout to get told: NASA has a 2WD rally class (as well as a FWD class). I'm not sure if SCCA has one too, but it wouldn't surprise me. #kenblock

    @snapoversteer 'bout to get told: Last I checked Rally America has a bunch of 2WD classes, but yeah something more affordable like using spec Miatas for rallying. If that was the case sign me up!!! #kenblock
