    I work across the street and that happens about 6 times a year. Some trucker won't pay attention and tries to pull through. About 3 months ago a cement truck tried to go through, got stuck, and fell on the side, spilling all the cement. #accidents

    It's called, "Topping" the Truck/Trailer/Load........ Topping the Truck gets you fired instantly, Topping the Trailer or Load gets you a drug-test and the derisive nick-name, "Big Man". While never having done it myself (knock on wood), I've seen it done many times, almost always due to re-paving and not changing the sign and the driver running with the trailer tandems too far back. Seen guys wedged under 11'8" underpasses too, though.... #accidents

    @coupeZ600: I counted on adjustable tandems providing maneuverability and proper weight distribution, but didn't know they changed the height. Is that just a function of ride height from lighter loading?

    Found the intersection at "S 3rd St and Eastern Pkwy, Louisville KY" and looked around in google street view for the signs and one's readable enough to show [11'-8" low clearance]

    @Tiberiuswise: Actually, there are alarms in some places. Charlottesville has the notoriously low 14th St trestle bridge. They finally installed an alarm system, so that when vehicles of a certain height are detected, an alarm starts sounding and a road sign flashes. No idea if it's helped or not but it is irritating because it starts sounding when the vehicle is half a block away. And if the vehicle turns right at the bridge, false alarm. #accidents

    After parking, people in the office building video taped him while he "finished", even while being interviewed by the police. He was quoted as saying that he "was not sucking d**k".

    The jury is still out on whether the whole thing was a hoax to promote a new reality TV show. The absense of cargo indicates foul play, especially considering that there is no evidence of it bailing out during the truck's 50 mile journey. Charges will likely be filed.

    More on this at 5pm, 7pm, 11pm, and so on until a celebrity shows her naughty bits again, and we can move on. #accidents

    The driver would have lost his license had he hit the girl, never to endanger another little girl. Because the little girl and the old man were lucky, the octogenarian keeps his license to terrorize the population once again.
