But should we really care what he thinks? We mean, he can't even tell a funny elephant joke.

<![CDATA[Environmentalists Leave Shit On Jeremy Clarkson's Driveway]]> Jeremy Clarkson, ever the center of controversy, has attracted some unwanted attention from environmentalists for his anti-environmentalist agenda. They dropped by his house with a steaming pile of manure.

In addition to being fairly unoriginal, Marty McFly owns the manure shtick, we can't help but notice that they're against global warming and yet dropped a bunch of methane-producing material on his front step. Might as well have tried to spray old CFC hairspray in his face. [Gaurdian]

<![CDATA[Top Gear: BMW Z4 Vs. Nissan 370Z]]> "It doesn't feel like a pair of turbos, it feels like a pair of testes — big meaty ones." Clarkson on the 2009 BMW Z4 in last night's Top Gear comparison between it and the Nissan 370Z. Video below.

Here's Clarkson's review and, just as importantly, the power laps of both cars. We know one of our mothers will be very disappointed.

<![CDATA[Jeremy Clarkson: US Viewers Don’t Get Top Gear]]> "That's been canned," said Jeremy Clarkson speaking of Top Gear USA in this video. "[Americans] just don't understand a single word we're on about."

Clarkson and his midget mate Richard Hammond were down under for Top Gear Live, which is sort of like Muppets On Ice, but with cars. We've already heard Top Gear USA was canceled, but it's interesting to hear the less-PC version of events.

We do however think Clarkson is wrong on one key point: it's not Americans who "just don't get it, really" it's NBC. [via CarsGuide]

<![CDATA[Top Gear Hit By Budget Cuts, Jeremy Clarkson’s Diarrhea Of The Mouth Intact]]> The BBC is reporting budget cuts across the board in 2009. Yes, Top Gear will feel the heat and viewers apparently will notice the cuts.

The highest-rated, most-watched automotive show on television is not immune to the impending doom that is the Carpocalypse. The BBC reported yesterday there will be budget cuts across the board in 2009 and Top Gear will feel that budget-cutting heat. We're being told the next season will be cheaper to produce and not only that, it’s likely viewers will notice.

According to Andy Wilman, the producer for Top Gear:

No point in moaning about that – all shows are suffering… so no reason why we shouldn’t suffer as well.

Our problem, though, is that there is no fat to trim off the show, in that we waste almost nothing behind the scenes and the old cliché of every penny goes on screen is actually true.

So in 2009 the budget cut has to affect what you watch.

Wilman also joked about Clarkson’s idea:

Instead of trimming back a little bit on every show - losing a helicopter here or a truck crash there - we'll endeavour to make 13 out of 14 shows as per the usual [Hollywood producer] Jerry Bruckheimer standard, and then the last one, when we only have a tenner left, will be utter, utter *****.

The Stig also spoke his mind about the cuts:

.—. .-.. . .- ... . / -.. —- -. .—--. - / —. . - / .-. .. -.. / —- ..-. / — . .-.-.- / .. .—--. — / .. -. / .-.. —- ...- . / .— .. - .... / - .... . / .... .- — ... - . .-. / .- -. -.. / .. / -.. .-. .. ...- . / ..-. .- ... - —..— / ...- .-. —- —- —- —- — .-.-.- / — .- -.- . / ... ..- .-. . / -.— —- ..- / -.. .-. .. -. -.- / -.— —- ..- .-. / —- ...- .- .-.. - .. -. . .-.-.-

We don’t mind Clarkson’s idea so much, but losing content from the show will really affect the impact Top Gear has on enthusiasts. Will this really affect the production quality of the show? Probably, but not as much as you’d think, though they may have to cut down on Clarkson’s banter every now and again. We hear he's now being paid by the word.

<![CDATA[Top Gear Season 10 Available In iTunes]]> For all the grief we give Clarkson and his two interns, we’re actually huge fans of Top Gear. It’s the show that made our carmosexuality OK with our moms. Amongst TopGearphiles, Season 10 is held up as the all-time greatest, featuring the Motorhome Grand Prix, the Channel crossing and, yes, the Kalihari special — probably the greatest episode ever. Each episode costs $1.99 or you can buy the whole season for $14.99. If you have the means, we highly recommend heading to iTunes for the downloads.

<![CDATA[Jeremy Clarkson's Thriller DVD Blows Stuff Up]]> Not to be confused for a Michael Jackson video, Jeremy Clarkson's Thriller is the latest in his line of tire-smoking, explosion-filled DVDs. This time he's been behind the wheel of an Aston Martin DBS, Pagani Zonda F Roadster, McLaren SLR 722 GTR, and Porsche 911 Turbo to name a few. We know it might feel a bit like the Jeremy Clarkson Gawker Stalker around here as of late, with Jezza ranting on the CTS-V and ZR1, being spotted in Vietnam and on a scooter, and crashing head-on into things. You may be right. Mostly because love him or hate him, he's entertaining. [via FinalGear]

<![CDATA[Jeremy Clarkson In Head-On Accident Filming Top Gear, Doing Just Fine]]> Proving he's as bull-headed as we suspected, Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson was reportedly in a head-on collision during filming for the show. Says the Mirror, Clarkson "suffered minor injuries to his legs, hand and back." What, exactly, are minor injuries? Clarkson elaborates: “My right index finger looked like a burst sausage, my left shin was fatter than my thigh and my back felt like someone had driven over it with a pile-driver.” For her part, Clarkson's wife claims "my husband is fine." In other words, shut up Jeremy, and put on a band-aid. So, just for the record: Jeremy Clarkson is not dead. But, if he were, we've got a very nice obituary. [FinalGear]

<![CDATA[Real Top Gear Returns November 2]]> Originally intended to start on October 26th, Top Gear is now officially slated for a return to television on November 2nd. We can hardly wait for Series 12 to start, particularly because of the American road trip Jeremy and the boys had in a 2009 Corvette ZR1, 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8 and a 2009 Cadillac CTS-V. Though we'll have to see if their hour-long special trip to Vietnam is part of the upcoming series, or a stand-alone. [via TopGear]

<![CDATA[Jeremy Clarkson Loves The ZR1, But Says It Began "To Disintegrate” After Three Days]]> Writing in his weekly column in the ever-so-slightly left-of-center Sunday Times, Jeremy Clarkson expressed his love for the 2009 Corvette ZR1 before claiming “after three days the damn thing was beginning to disintegrate.” He may have just been "doing it wrong." Of course, this being Clarkson, the rest of the column was about the Chrysler Sebring, the War of Independence and his own insecurities that arise from him being a balding, fat idiot from a backwater nation who’s made a career on the tenuous appeal of his jackassery, so we don’t know if he was talking about the overall build quality (which we found to be peerless) or the interior (which we agree is unfittingly cheap for a $103,300 car). The rest of what Clarkson had to say and more of our analysis after the jump.

I spent most of my time in America this time in a new Corvette ZR1. It is a fabulous car. Mesmerisingly fast, good looking and amazing value. But after three days the damn thing was beginning to disintegrate. It made me growl with annoyance and despair.

The thing about the ZR1 is that it’s not just mesmerizingly fast, good-looking and an amazing value (at least here. In England it costs $200k), it’s built extremely well too. The aluminum chassis is as basic and as strong as it gets, every piece of running gear is of the highest specification available and the carbon fiber bodywork is some of the most well-laid, best-fitting we’ve ever seen.

Then there’s the interior, which we think is what Clarkson is talking about. It’s cheap...really cheap. Wonky plastic buttons abound, the 3ZR package brings ugly, atrociously stitched leather in poorly chosen color combinations and the steering wheel belongs in a Cobalt, not a 205 MPH supercar. But despite all that, it should fundamentally be capable of holding itself together. We just don’t know what Clarkson is on about. Do you? [via the Sunday Times]

<![CDATA[Top Gear Spotted Filming Episode In Vietnam]]> Top Gear is expected to return next month; we've already seen that Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May will be coming to America for an episode, and it now appears they'll also be headed to Vietnam for a tour of duty. Unlike their American trip to the Bonneville salt flats in which the chaps drive a Corvette ZR1, Dodge Challenger SRT8 and Cadillac CTS-V, the journey in Vietnam is allegedly happening on motorcycle. Well, three motorcycles we presume. Either way it's not going to be an easy trip from Ho Chi Minh City in the south to Hanoi in the north, but it will definitely make for entertaining television.

<![CDATA[Clarkson Settles Down, Purchases Sensible Family Sedan]]> Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson has finally acknowledged that his Lamborghini Gallardo and TVR-engined Land Rover may not be the most practical way to transport his family of five. So he's purchased a 38-year old Grosser Mercedes 600, noting that it's quite a bit less boring than cars like the BMW 5-series or Lexus LS600h.

Writing in his Top Gear column, Clarkson notes, "This is the car used by Lewis Winthorpe in the film Trading Places. It was also used by Idi Amin, Mao Tse Tung, Leonid Brezhnev and Elvis Presley.

"From 1963 to 1981, this was the most expensive, most advanced and most governmental car in the world. When I have fitted flags to the front wings - black eagles on a red background - I shall feel like Mussolini."
Clarkson goes on to note that his hand-built piece of history - which features hydraulic air vents and just about everything else - is not in what you might call 'showroom condition.' In addition to many other parts its in need of front brake calipers - £3,000 before labor - and brake pads - a sniff at £500 a pad. Clarkson goes on to note that should the electric actuators for his hydraulic window lifts fail, they'll cost him £5,000 a piece, just for the parts.

But, does Jeremy regret his purchase? "The thing is though, even if I buy a whole trolley full of electric window switches, and several spare exhaust pipes, the Grosser will still have cost me less than Johnny Rotarian's 540i. And when it's working, gliding from place to place on its air suspension, I tell you this: it will be the coolest car on the roads today." [Via Top Gear]

<![CDATA[Jeremy Clarkson takes on thugs and wins]]> clarkson-small-hat.jpgConfronted by a gang of teenage hoodlums outside his daughter's birthday party, Jeremy Clarkson went on the offensive. After grabbing the ringleader by his hoodie, the gang pulled out their mobile phone cameras in an attempt to frame the Top Gear presenter for assault. Writing in his Sun column, Clarkson said "Plainly this boy's parents are useless, allowing him to be out and about on the streets, harassing passers by." Clearly, the gang should have picked on Hammond instead.[Via The Daily Mail]

<![CDATA[Top Gear Moving, Maybe]]>

Residents around Top Gear's studio/test track in Surrey have been complaining so much about the racket created by Clarkson, Hammond, May and their tame racing driver that the show may be forced to pull stakes and move to another locale. While some reports suggest that it could endanger the May start of the next season, the Top Gears maintain that whatever happens, they'll be on the air.
