While this thing is fucking impressive, they better not be sullying the idea of the "limited to 5" runs by claiming that each special edition will get its own run. A coupe and a roadster I can deal with, but if they announce a Zonda Cinque Limited Edition next year with different wheels and a paintjob and say they'll be making five of those, then I'm going to dub them the new Veyron.
I see what they did here: while cleaning the factory in anticipation for the new model, they found most of the parts they would need to build five more cars, so they fabricated the missing parts, payed some consultant to come up with a "clever" name and this is the result.
@DMANbluesfreak: You are wrong, too. It's a spaceship, actually a secretive scramjet testbed for the Italian space programme which started with the Lamborghini Countach.
We recently acquired a massive amount of potholes in CT. There must have been a sale somewhere, and we bought the whole lot. Anyway, with the economy the way it is, I think the potholes are going to stick around for a great while longer than they usually do. I do have a point, and please be patient, I'm getting to it. If I could afford to purchase this car, I would bounce it off of every hole in the road. I'd go through rims like Pookie goes through crack rocks. The whole front spoiler would be shredded like frosted mini wheats. I'd be an inch and a half shorter too, from all of the jolts to my spine. `
Now, getting to my point, I think this car is worth $2,000,000.00
@TowMe: I'm pretty sure that the option was the Koenigsegg OR the money. There was a big uproar on Autoblog too that he chose the money, until everybody there discovered he had cancer.
Compared to the 72% drop in my stock portfolio over the last year, this might be a good deal. The only real drawback I see is this car is not well suited to Michigan roads.
For that matter, very few cars are well suited to Michigan roads.
@Formerlythegreatestdriver: Heart click for the lunar rover reference. I was actually in that same line of thinking as I drove down Michigan Ave. through Dearborn this morning.
It seems that 2 words send the auto writers into a flurry of activity. Pagani Zonda. What the hell? The car is unavailable to us Yanks (at least without a zillion dollars to import via the gray market), it's quite repugnant to look at (compared to other "exotics"), uses Mercedes Power, and what else? It doesn't have a racing pedigree, it's produced only for the idle rich, it's used as a way of generating ratings (or views, or selling copies) to the auto related shows, blogs, and rags. Yet, all of the fanboys (including this blog) just melt at those vary two words; Pagani Zonda. Well, melt away.
