@ploopsy: It is a re-badged Civic much like the CSX that replaced it which is a JDM Civic though in the case of the CSX its design became the Japanese Civic instead of the other way around. Wikipedia and Canadian friends are my source.
I don't even think a loaded cimarron cost 15k when it was new, did it? No wonder this one's 95% crack pipe now. You have to be kidding. 15k for a J-body? I mean i wouldn't pay 15k for an '04 J-body with 26k miles... much less an '86.
I am glad that there are 51 like minded folks like me so far. We have always fought against the odds people. We can still turn the vote around!
I even have the full support of the Morris Marina Owners Club from the great England-land. Apparently they have been fighting that neo-nazi dictator called Clarkson and his cronies. Unite we shall win!
Clearly, the owner of this car has not heard of a little known program called cash for clunkers.
The sad thing is this might not even qualify for C4C...
I voted nice price for purely sentimental reasons, my second car was a cavalier (vauxhall), and this is the same but with a large engine and a dash board that escaped from a 1982 video game, and GM stuck a Cadillac badge on the back. What's not to like apart from any number of decent cars for the same money.
Well I kinda would like to own a Cimmaron someday just for the WTF factor. By '86 they were not the terrible cars they had been in the early years, but it was still a terrible excuse for a Cadillac. I would consider thinking about it if the asking price were a third of what it is. Asking $15,000 for a Cimmaron is way out of line, no matter the condition or features and especially this one being a purple car with gold trim. That and if you're seriously in the market for a Cimmarron, there are better and cheaper examples out there.
As I recall, there was a luxury tax that kicked in on business fleet car purchases just above the Cimarron's listed price. It was, in part, aimed at that not-insignificant market segment.
I drove one with both the stick and auto back when it first came out. The V6 could hold its own against any other multi-valve four-banger out there at about half the maintenance costs and parts availability would not be a problem down the road. The Cimarron was an excellent Chevy. Otherwise it was the Packardbaker of the 1980's. Sad.

Still, this is prolly not the ultimate Cimarron as these were eventually equipped with the 3.1 liter.
GM should've just made an A-body Caddy instead of these - including a wagon version. How cool would that be?

Reminds me of the Acura 1.7 EL. Its basically a glorified compact car.

That's what I'd do if I had that kind of money to blow.
