The carpocalypse has wreaked havoc throughout the nation, with the loss of thousands of jobs. I think that is about time that the greed of the UAW upper management was reigned in, but even so, I can't help but feel bad for the little people that got squashed not only by the Big 3, but by the short-sightedness of their very own union, which ought to have been looking out for their long-term interests.
Knowing that there are a lot of people out their feeling the pain as a result of this, I'm not the least bit surprised by this, and I can empathize with them blatantly telling Chrysler to go to hell.

Please, put some depth and perspective in your criticism.

Nope, nor did I imply that the UAW was entirely to blame, or that everyone in the UAW is a greedy, corrupt bastard. I just think that the upper management in the UAW got too greedy, and strong-armed the corporations into making decisions that were not viable in the long term, much to the detriment of those that the UAW was supposed to be looking out for.
And when it comes to a matter of money and how it was used, something tells me that the every day line workers didn't ask for the money that was gained on their behalf to be used for a private golf course, either.
I didn't imply that the UAW was entirely to blame, or that GM management didn't try to pull some underhanded bullshit either. What I did imply is that the UAW did have a part in this, and much of it was at the hands of the upper management that were supposed to be elected representatives of the little guys. But the little guys didn't think enough about the long term when they had the short term benefits laid out before them, and weren't too quick to bring their representatives to task.
Both sides fucked up, and both sides are paying the price now.
Please, put some depth and perspective in your replies, and don't come back stuffing words into other's mouths and assuming that they are factually incorrect unless you are damn sure that there is no argument or example that can come back and bite you in the ass.
