Cool writeup. I used to work in what was the tallest building in the Southeast from 1906-1907 (only 21 stories), so I've really come to enjoy old buildings.
And despite never having installed a Zeppelin anchor pylon on the top, they still couldn't stop the Germans from crashing into them.

Hell, the Erie Canal was dug in about 5 years. By hand. And don't get me started on the transcontinental railroad.
