The '69 Connie (and '70 CdV) are more tetanus than luxury, but I love 'em best of all. Inside, velour sofas; outside, back-right-off scariness.

I may have this misclassified, but I think this car should be on this list:

This 300 might be my favorite DOTS car, which is why I noticed it was missing.

@Uncle Bo is quadrozontal: I thought about adding it, but I consider that car to be more muscle than luxury.

After viewing this series of cars, it makes me wonder- why don't U.S. manufacturers offer an "L" series? The Germans do (although now, some only import the "L" model). You can usually get their cars with short or long wheelbases. Check out that 1979 Caddy- extended length.

@leavethegun-takethecannoli: Rather than elongated models, I'm holding out for pairs of overnight style airline seats in a station wagon body.

The untouchable presence of that Imperial might be rivaled by the finned 1960 Cadillac, but will only be topped if you spot a Facel Vega, or maybe a Pierce Arrow. It's not a musclecar or a road racer with something to prove. It's not flashy; no show-off styling. It looks like it was made as a part of the landscape, and the world was only finished when it was built.

This really is drool-worthy. Y'all can have the Caddies--I'll take the 56 Imp, the 56 Lincoln and the 57 Chrysler. A close friend--and non-car person--kept a 57 New Yorker going until the late 90s, when he sold it. Push button transmission (push in N and hold it to start)--and tail fins that actually start at the driver's door--what a beauty.
