    man, that thing is nice! homeboy looks like he could use the flappy paddle gearbox though, it look like he just couldn't shift it fast enough and when he took his hand off the wheel to shift it looked like he was going to ditch it.

    i absolutely loved the whine of the turbo on the track car... that should be a question of the day, what sound better a turbo or a supercharger? #porsche911gt3rs

    @B1663R: Its not a turbo, its the transmission. And that sequential six is just as fast as paddles.

    @B1663R: GT3s have never had turbos. GT2s and Turbos (obviously) are turbocharged, but GT3s and GT3 RSs have always just been naturally aspirated, which makes them that much more impressive.

    The noise sounded like straight cut gears to me. Bonus video of a crazy-ass E36 racecar to show you what I'm talking about:

    @Leeeeena the Jalopchick: i coulda sworn that i heard a distinct turbo whine and a blow off... after reviewing the footage that you attached and my dog looking at me funny i would have to say the transmission is making that sound.

    in the Porsche vid when he is on the track, it just sounded so turboish, i thought that the racing team added a little somethin' somthin' to give her a bit of a boost.

    it takes a big man to admit when he's wrong... lucky for me i am not a big man. #porsche911gt3rs

    He who wears the tight pants is casting the bromance stone? Hmm.

    Anyway, nice car, could live without the ricer paraphernalia slathered all over the side. If it were mine, I'd be attacking it with a heat gun, Goo Gone and some black paint for those poor wheels/mirrors. #porsche911gt3rs

    @ChronicTeutonic: Oh Jeebus, there are some liderhosen in a bunch in here. First, I know what the heritage is. It was gaudy back then and gaudy now. Problem is, they saw the gaudy and raised it to a whole new level. If I wanted to know what it was, I would look at a tastefully understated badge on the trunk. Money could be a lot better spent not making it look like a day-glo clown car. #porsche911gt3rs

    This guy is pretty good. He gets to the point and really gets you involved and actually speaks coherently (unlike Clarkson or Motor Trend). I like how he breaks down what's important... like how the engine, transmission, steering and handling all respond and whether its actually fun or too much work or too removed from the driver.

    Now if he would review some regular sports cars and give a poor-man's take that would be interesting. #ferrari458italia

    @jackgalusha: Kind of a lame comparison though. Is the most expensive Porsche ever faster than the Z06? Sure. It would be more interesting to see the still much cheaper ZR1. If we are to compare apples with oranges, let's at least use the best apple. #ferrari458italia

    @FrankGrimes: I like it too, all except the headlights, which look like Ferrari is trying to crack the RiceRacer demographic. But even those aren't enough for me to not enjoy the design in a really visceral way. The profile is particularly compelling. #ferrari458italia

    at £197,000, it'd better be all things to all people.

    i think that aesthetically, it's the worst ferrari in production today, it has an identity crisis and a bit too much lamborghini design language if you ask me, but in terms of performance, it's definitely an awesome car. #ferrari458italia

    @rimplestultskin, macberry fanboy: Long narrow headlamps like the Gallardo, or like the Enzo that came out a year earlier? Or like the 7th gen Celica that came out 2 years before that?

    And LEDs? They're turn signals (as far as I can determine). Why would they not use LEDs there? #ferrari458italia

    @area_educator: the enzo's headlamps aren't as elongated as the ones on the 458 and the gallardo. and the celica's headlamps weren't that narrow. and when i look at the car head-on, or directly at the rear, it doesn't look at all like a typical ferrari.

    and the rear grilles next to the taillamps look decidedly better on a yellow car than they do on a red car (they look awful on a red car), from the pictures i've seen, which is another lamborghini trait.

    also, i think the 458 must have been designed entirely from a three-quarters view, because on an angle, it looks great, but head-on, it looks awful, kind of like a half-alligator half-human child staring at you with an awkward smile that's about to give way to crying. and pininfarina's designers haven't made that kind of work on any ferrari before this one. #ferrari458italia

    Odd how a see-through engine cover looks great and cool on a mid-engine car, but looks absolutely dorktacular on a front-engine. Life is funny sometimes. #ferrari458italia

    @Otto Suksumake: There is an excuse in a mid engine car... that rear window, in a front engine there isn't. All the Vette is showing is the engine cover.

    That being said I don't think anyone would say a bad thing about the shaker hoods from the past. Its difference between faking it and being legit. Like dummy hood scoops and brake louvers. #ferrari458italia

    @DoogieFullHouser: Minor point: on the ZR1, as confirmed previously here on Jalopnik, most of what you see in the window is not an engine cover-- it's part of the intake or the turbo, iirc. #ferrari458italia
