    I don't think that it is just short posts that get compressed; I think that after the first page, any posts by non-starred commenters are automatically compressed unless someone replies to them. Additionally, I have noticed that if you gave a friend-hearty-clicky thingy to a non-stared commenter, then whenever you see their comments, they will be automatically expanded for you.

    @Pete Gaines: This has been my observation also. It wouldn't be such a bad thing if it didn't result in truncated comments and pictures or videos not being apparent until the post is expanded. Perhaps the Hamster Wranglers could be persuaded to engineer it so that posts long enough to get cut off with a ... and posts containing links, replies or pics/vids don't get compressed? That or the aforementioned expand all for the classic view would be quite satisfactory (to me anyway). I appreciate your efforts in this, and I trust you'll be able to finesse a solution that keeps the rabble, err- commenters and the tech types happy. Thanks!

    I was going to play this, but the very second I startee opening tabs to teh galleries, my GF sent an "urgent' e-mail, two people called on YIM, my phone rang then took what appears to have been its final dump. I fear that if I continue, my laptop's battery will explode, emasculating me. Good hunting, guys!
