Scroggs, fine work. You know I like the MkI Escort and the 3.0 Cs a lot. There are these nice Alfa´s and Capri´s and there is even a Citroen SM at 2:10.
Look at all these cars and you know why we do like em, there was no dictation from wind tunnels and not as many goverment nanny safety rules. This made it possible that the cars then had their own personallity.
I love that 300SEL... it's just a shame it ate tires like popcorn. 400 horsepower and two tons of German schteel has a habit of doing that.
Yesterday, I saw a well-kept '65-'67 230S "fintail" down on my local street. It was white with a red interior, and it had the floor-shifted four-speed. I explained to my girlfriend that I want to get one and turn it into a rally car; she looked at me like I was crazy. I'll have to show her this video.
Whoa, those were the days. The entire pit row looked like tons of random people were just milling around. I don't understand much German, but I did hear the word "gearbox".
To give credit where credit is due, the cinematic undertones were all made possible by the excellent work of editor György Szeljak. See more of his work here:
I was never a fan of the exhaust note on any of the VQ varients. While the G35 was better than the the 350, it still imo such an annoying sound. If i ever bought one, that exhaust system would've been the first to go, especially if it was on the Murano or FX. But then again, I'm baised on the subject as I prefer V8's.
@Bullitt417: That's about right, actually. My dad, before his C6, had a G35 sedan. The exhaust note wasn't terrible, but it wasn't great, and it was always there. Full throttle or cruising at 1500 rpm, you are going to hear that VQ drone, and that's really not something a four-door luxury car should do.
@strllng plyr: The droniest cars I've ever been in have all been rotaries with aftermarket exhausts. I'm not sure if that's a function of the engine or the exhaust choices, though, since I haven't heard very many stock.
Supposedly the old four cylinder diesel rabbit had such an effect. Except the problem was if you reach an exact harmonic frequency your head would explode.

Also: Minichamps makes a 1:18 scale replica of the Benz, if you (like me) are into that sort of thing.

Then again, the Supra comes implanted with some 2JZ's already, and all you gotta do is chase some Z's (300ZX)
