    Since it's scrap, its value is probably ~$300 in metal.


    That's under the threshold for Grand Larceny, and definitely worth the hit on my record for petty theft.

    If 8A150014 is the serial number (ie. last 8 of the VIN), then this is a MY2008 vehicle. DC didn't start building these until MY2009, did they?

    @GotaGurt: Ok, did some homework. There was a MY2008, but the VIN structure was 8H000000. Maybe a spray paint typo. I do that all the time.

    @Tanshanomi: That's just the serial number.


    Usually you'll still run "real" serial numbers on development units so you can keep track of them. It's also hard to do builds without proper S/Ns.

    My happy story to make myself feel better about these horrible pictures:


    The truck driver wrote "scrap" on it the same way store employees used to write "trash" on merchandise in boxes and walk out toward--but not to--the dumpster.

    So he's driving casual, acting cool, nothing to see here, folks--and heading for an undisclosed location.

    WHY???


    Couldn't Chrysler just auction it off as a collector's item and make some money? If they can't sell it for liability purposes (lack of functional safety features or whatnot), then maybe they could repurpose it as a giant paperweight or something.


    In any event, it's too pretty to scrap.

    @Tiberiuswise - now with 20% more sarcasm.: Yeah, alphanumeric is right, that's a Ram. Taillights is the easiest identifier, I think, and I don't think the Tundra has any rims quite like that.
