Fine selections one and all, Murilee.......and for the record, you want the Lancia most of all.

    I know of a 1969 Chevy Concours Wagon. $500.

A little rough, but nothing a Buick big blog and a 5-speed can't fix.

    Also, rad.

There's just something about huge old 2-door Mopars that really does it for me. There was a '68 Polara 2-door on eBay not long ago, in that glorious shade of putrid green they were spraying back in the late 60's, replete with green buckets and a green vinyl top. Triple Green! It was a little rough around the edges, but ever since selling my '69 Newport 'vert, I've hankered for another 383-powered sled as a mate for my 440- equipped Imperial 2-door. I guess in the back of my mind I'd hoped the two would get together and procreate.

Alas, I missed auction end on the Polara, and the damn car went for a steal- less than 900 bucks.

Is there even an engine in that Fiat? Look at that nose-up attidude.

Bet you a dollar those are 100mm 4-lugs on the front 'coerced' into fitting the Strada's 98mm bolt circle.

    BTDT.

@Bad Juju: I see the Fiat driving around town, so it does indeed have an engine.

These are great choices but, I must admit, I've lusted after every DOTS entry including the taped up Maverick. It's comforting to be in the company of so many like minded individuals with such discerning taste.

And the oddly menacing form apparently piloting the Citroen is a sheepdog, guys. Have another 12-ounce dose of memory-relaxant on me..

Am I the only one who thinks the Citroën Traction-Avant looks like it has a body slumped over the steering wheel...?

Did Murilee stumble upon an Alameda mob hit?

Great choices. But what the hell or who the hell is behind the wheel of the Citroen?

I'd drive any of these away in a heartbeat. Must have been really hard to narrow it down.

Great choices, Murilee. You are an inspiration in addition to being a gentleman and a scholar.

Nowadays, when I'm out traveling and see a noteworthy car, I think to myself "There's a DOTS car, definitely". Sadly, I am rarely armed with my camera during those times.

Happy New Year, and may 2009 bring even more Alameda surprises.

@SundaySunday: Amen, friend. Murilee's series here has opened my eyes to the current dearth of even more mundane vehicles from the 1980s, and alerted me to the fact that some areas of the country almost take for granted some of the vehicles I'm excited to see.

    Thanks, Murilee.

There's either four of the above comment or none of 'em, and either way, the hamsters can all rim me.

Only would take the Strada/Ritmo and the Fire Arrow of the list. The Travel all and Vista Cruiser are my favorits.

    Happy New Year to you.
