The "Washington DC" 24 Hours of LeMons race (held at Summit Point Motorsports Park in West Virginia) took place a couple of weeks back, and it was one of the all-time best!

When an East German car with an ill-advised Subaru/Volkswagen drivetrain swap finishes mid-pack in a 24 Hours of LeMons race, those rusty Warsaw Pact hands tend to grab the Index Of Effluency trophy and hang on for dear life.

They said— hell, I said— that a big, fat, complicated-ass Mercedes-Benz could never, ever take the overall win in a 24 Hours of LeMons race. Guess what?

How in the hell can you get a Mercedes-Benz S500 for under 500 bucks? Welcome to the world of white-elephant German luxury cars! For reasons nobody can understand, the monster Mercedes ended the first race session with a 4-lap lead.

I'm still on vacation from my judgely duties at the 24 Hours of LeMons, but LeMons Perp Nick Pon was able to capture some of the inspections at the Capitol Offense race for us.
