And to everybody who is saying it's an isolated incident that we should be ignoring: If it's an isolated incident it's worth reporting as a novelty. If it's not, it's worth reporting as news. IMO, if the cable is routed in a way that it can rub, fray and short out on one car, it's probably like that on lots of them. The fact that the article states that the cable will be safely re-routed by the service department leads me to believe that GM knows about the problem and has issued a TSB already. Hopefully they have instituted an assembly-line fix to nip the issue in the bud, instead of letting it go for the rest of the model year and hoping that not enough of them fail to make teh assembly-line fix cheaper than the TSB fix.

Release your frustrations! Post as many witty comments as you can about a failing US Automaker, Red Neck Camaros, Gm build quality, etc… but remember you're not going to find satisfaction until you deal with those inner demons associated with the step father, or uncle, or priest, or cub scout leader who molested you as a child!

A Troll on Jalopnik? I didn't know Jalopnik was a 'merican V8 hatin' foreign automaker fan boy site. Who knew.

I once dated a girl who referred to herself as a "people person." I would have gone with "sexual omnivore."
I do love me some freaks.

Sexual omnivore, love it.

The media has done more to kill this country than possibly the politicians, and kicking GM while down isn't helping anything.
I'm sure the Camaro is the only make to ever have an issue with one of the first 600 cars of a brand new make to leave a lot.

aka: the EVIL LIBRUL MEDIA! which starts with CNN, then Jalopnik, and then O'Reilly.

I know you're covering everything Camaro....but this isn't news. If it becomes a recurring issue, then it is. Why rile up all the "GM can't build shit" jackasses to spread this around like it's common place when it's happened once?
04/29/09
I can see your point. What I wonder is- did this happen during product testing?
If it did, did they think it would become a non-issue when the car hit the real world, or were they afraid of bad publicity for pushing back the release of the car and figured they could fix it later with a service bulletin.
It is so true that GM does not need any more bad publicity, but at the same time, they control their own destiny.
I would hate for this to lead to a recall, and I doubt Ben was looking to further humiliate GM. He's just providing us Jalopniks with the up-to-date info we want.

My 09 Volvo wouldn't start. The fuel pump connector was never fully seated from the assembly line, and fell off after a month or so. Boom, no start.
I even posted the details on a car forum on teh interwebz.
Why wasn't that news?
At that time it was even an "American (Ford)" product!

Seriously though, I'd feel bad for GM. If they showed any effort whatsoever to rectify these problems from ever even happening. They should totally be aware that Jalopnik will be there to shed light on the truth. If it were just this one little Camaro problem, I wouldn't think anything of it. But its my Chevy K2500 thats leaking four separate fluids, and its my ma's Silverado that has blow through two transmissions in less then 100,000 miles. Oh, and can't forget my mom's previous Chevy; a leased 2004 Venture.
It had this problem where the latch that kept the door from sliding shut on unsuspecting hands. The latch did not work. Many a time did my fingers get crushed. It actually broke one of them at one point. The van was recalled twice, but they never did fix the problem.
I like GM. I even liked the minivan. Only van I ever drove that could burn a lil' rubber and sound decent doing it. But its crap like that; that put GM in the position it is. In a way, I'm not too bummed out GM will be going away. Or at least, shrinking extensively.

That's pretty embarassing. I actually feel bad for her.
It's like when I shwoing off and tripped the circuit breaker on my stereo and lost my subs. I had to stop and reset the breaker. I felt foolish.

This reminds me of the time a friend of mine's dad let him drive his 'vette to school (highschool). Of course we had tons of people around the car, asking questions, etc. Then when we tried to leave the parking lot, the car conked out and wouldn't start again. Believe it had to be towed home.
