This car was designed by Wayne Cherry, retired head of GM design. He was also responsible for the awesome Cadillac Sixteen concept car of a few years back, whose engine is pictured above thanks to star commenter Jo Schmo.
It's just not evil enough. Maybe if I saw it in person, I dunno. How about a modern streamliner Caddy?
Sure, it's got enough bark to match its bite now (unlike that OTHER concept roadster...)
Anyways though, I GUESS this thing DOES successfully integrate modern caddy bits while still looking natural... but Volvo's Hotrod was cooler and this thing just ain't sinister enough.
Just a thought. With the articles on the "oldies" and this new "production hot rod," I was just thinking how almost ALL hot rod designs pay homage, directly or indirectly, to the cars of the 20s and 30s and the hot rodders who chopped them up and made them fast and beautiful. Sure there are plenty of great rods from different years (the "fat boy" designs made from the cars of the early 50s are some of my favorites) but this classic roadster design never fails to please. Let us give thanks and honor those who went before and set the standard. Oh, we are pleased, yes.
@TR3-A: Well said. The brilliant designs of the 1920s and 30s were some of the finest art works of the century in any medium, and the fast car acolytes and mechanics who modified and refined them were craftsmen beyond compare.
This is so much hotter than the Prowler. Is that a Northstar engine? Even with 400 hp, a magnificent piece. And the styling is simple, understated, yet dramatic. I love it. But wait... is that shifter attached to an automatic? DON'T MESS WITH ME MAN!!!

@Syrax, star dealer: I saw a Marauder on my way to work the other day. I love that car. Just awesome. And it proves what Ford could do if they let their engineers loose every now and then.
@elwood: I'm sorry, I fail to be able to read your comment without thinking you are being a dick. Why does everything have to be about speed? As a matter of fact, I don't think it would best 10 minutes. It just looks like it would handle well and be a blast to drive... isn't that enough to ask for?

Interesting brake vents but they seem unnecessary and, well ugly on this. And you guys are not thinking outside of the proverbial Cadillac box at all. Here try this on:
Aside from being a blatant Plymouth rip-off, wasn't the Prowler a thing created in the death-throws of the Plymouth brand? I know this is just a SEMA-focused custom car, but nonetheless, makes you think..

I'm surprised this is getting so much love.
The wheels are too big and the brownish-gold doesn't do them any favors.
The brake vent things are dumb.
The chrome gills look like a cheap afterthought.
The interior has some things going for it, but the overly glossed hard surfaces have a theme-park-ride look and feel to them.
I've got no problem with the idea of a modern hot rod, but the execution on this leaves me cold.

The '94-'96 Chevrolet Impala SS came along, then 10 years later Ford goes, "Oh yeah, we should do the Marauder."
The Prowler came along, then 10 years later GM goes, "Oh yeah, we should do this."
I like it. This is what the Prowler should have been. The timing is just odd.

Please put this in GT5. It deserves to be driven around the Ring.
Thank you.

That could also describe a 4-banger Camry.

I'm not keen on the brake vents, and it could use a real windscreen, but otherwise, bravo!
