Ah Fernandel... Mon père lui resemble énormément... Physiquement bien entendu.

Never seen this movie, have to get a copy!

@sos10: I think this is one of the very few non-comedy to feature Fernandel. He was a great actor who was type casted into some less than stellar productions...

Reminds me of my favorite childhood family car. '67 Buick Estate Wagon. Woodgrain trim, bubble roof, third row seating, GranSport rims. Best of all, the 327 Wildcat engine, which was I believe a special order for the dealer that had it as a demo before we bought it.
I would love to buy back that car!

Obviously, the the original poster has no idea what constitutes a 'BIG' Buick station wagon. He needs to be shown a last flight Buick Roadmaster Estate. Two and a half tons of pure...well, sloth.

@Blacksabre: Still wimpy, and it only weighed 4,600 lbs. For sheer mongo Buick wagonlust, nothing beats a 5,200-lb., 127-inch wheelbase '74 Estate Wagon.

That is such pure French kitsch that it could almost be a well done satire.

There was also a shot of a Renault Dauphine cop car--that's really an interceptor to fear.

@Novaload Misses Murilee: My first reaction to this clip-- well, my second reaction, after "this is awesome"-- was to wonder what self-respecting gendarme would ever be seen in a Dauphine. Sacre bleu, even the hot-rod Gordini had only about 20% of the Buick's power!

I'd like to think that, in the interest of being able to outrun the gendarmerie, our protagonist had the foresight to drop in a 401 Nailhead.

@Tomsk 1.1: No, they just let Claude Lelouch overdub the sound of a 401 Nailhead.
