Well, "Porsche Kid" has put together a full breakdown of what he expects from Porsche's 2013-14 lineup with photos below.

Spy photos, educated guesses, and "inside information" doesn't always add up to the truth, so one intense tween with an excess of Porsche love is probably a decent place to start. Here's his analysis:

I came to a conclusion on what the 2014 Porsche lineup might look like. I also
included 2 renderings I made of a 9984S in Speed Yellow. The renders are based completely off of extremely revealing spy-shots. The 998 will be overall bigger, so big, that believe it or not, the 998 "Turbos" you see testing are actually base Carreras. I know this because the brakes are that of a standard variant, and the air inlets
on the side are fake. You might still argue about the front splitter, the splitter will actually be adjustable and will come standard on most 998s. If you still want to argue about the huge rear, then you haven't seen the most revealing photo ever of the rear. It's completely and subtly sloped. Then why the Turbo looking
camo rear? To accommodate a new adjustable rear wing that is a part of the bodywork and not of the engine cover. The spy-photos of the 998 are a bit strange in some areas though. If you notice, the seats resemble those of the 996 GT3. New optional carbon buckets? Who knows? Anyway, here is what I think the 2014 lineup will look like.

[...]

There also will be a new entry level model which will be in Spyder form, reminiscent of the 356 and Carrera GT. Staying with the 356 and Carrera GT, there also may be a Coupe model based on the Cayman. The Spyder
will be based on the Boxster. It will probably get a 4-cylinder Turbo with 250hp. This will add an extra model to the Cayman and Boxster lineup. The Boxster lineup will carry over the "Spyder". Perhaps because the
Boxster has a lightweight variant; the Cayman might get one too. If there Is a lightweight Cayman, it might be called the "550 Coupe".

The Roxster. Yes, the long rumored Roxster. I highly doubt the Roxster will ever be made. There have been no known test models. The "Roxsters" that untrained spy-photographers are catching are Cayennes. The
Cayenne by this time will be smaller, lighter, and of course, more efficient. The Cayenne will get a higher output V8, common with the Panamera.

Speaking of the Panamera; the rumored "928" will be integrated with the Panamera as a 2dr variant. The Panamera will receive only a facelift by this time, and will not get the new model number "971", but will remain "970". The 2dr versions of the Panamera will get all of the same variants, but with added Cabriolet versions. There might be a Turbodiesel coupe and Cabriolet version along with the hybrid, but Porsche only knows.

As for the Turbo models and S models, the facelift will update them to match output with the Cayenne and Roxster. The 911 S models and Turbo models will also match the output. However, the base model 911s will not match output with the base Roxster, Panamera, and Cayenne. I wonder how fast a 570hp Panamera Coupe would be, or a 570hp Panamera Coupe Cabriolet. There will also be a base V6 Panamera added. Pricing for the 2014 Panamera will probably range from $50,000-$150,000. The Panamera will truly offer
a model for just about everyone.

All of this is based on speculation. This list includes every model if ALL rumors are fulfilled. The official 2014
lineup will look quite different, but this is just something to hold you off. I included renders of the 988 Boxster, Cayenne, 998 911, and a few

Panamera facelifts that I made.

<![CDATA[Porsche Boxster Spyder: The Lightest Porsche You Can Buy]]> At 2,811 lbs — only 11 lbs more than the 10-year-old 986 Porsche Boxster — the new 2011 Porsche Boxster Spyder will be the lightest Porsche you can buy after it's unveiled at next month's LA Auto Show.

But it's not just lighter, it's also powerful thanks to the Boxster Spyder's 3.4-liter six-cylinder engine putting out 320 horses — that's 10 more HP than the Boxster S. So, wait, let's get this straight — it'll be 176 lbs lighter than the Boxster S and get a touch more power? Wow.

If you're already wondering where you sign up — here's better news. The new Porsche also gets an all-new sport suspension that lowers the Boxster Spyder 20 mm providing a lower center of gravity and a standard limited slip differential.

Mate the performance to a unique look reminiscent of the Carrera GT and we already know you're getting your checkbooks ready. But wait, like Billy Mays used to say, there's more — the price tag on the new lightweight Porsche-uh is just $61,200 when it goes on sale in February.

2011 Porsche Boxster Spyder: Light, Powerful, Purist Roadster to be Introduced at Los Angeles Auto Show

Porsche's newest entry will be the lightest in its line-up

ATLANTA – November 5, 2009 – Weighing in at just 2,811 lbs., the new 2011 Porsche Boxster Spyder will be the lightest Porsche available – from a company known for lightweight, proficient sports cars. This new mid-engined roadster represents the true, purist form of the sports car – agile, powerful, open and efficient. This third Boxster model will join the Boxster and Boxster S and will make its world debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show, December 2, 2009.

The newest member of the Boxster family stands out from the other versions of Porsche's mid-engined roadster. Its low-slung, lightweight soft top – when closed – extends far to the rear to protect the driver and passenger from bright sunshine, wind and weather. This top, when combined with extra-low side windows and two striking bulges on the single-piece rear lid, provides the Boxster Spyder with a sleek silhouette reminiscent of the Carrera GT.

The Boxster Spyder features a 3.4-liter six-cylinder engine with Direct Fuel Injection upfront of the rear axle. Maximum output is 320 horsepower (hp), 10 hp more than the Boxster S. The combination of 10 more hp and 176 pounds less weight than the award-winning Boxster S, plus an all-new sport suspension that lowers the Boxster Spyder 20 mm, a lower center of gravity, a standard limited slip differential, and exclusive wheels provides the kind of driving dynamics that back up the unique look. Aluminum door skins and lightweight interior door panels from the 911 GT3 RS contribute to the weight reduction.

When equipped with Porsche-Doppelkupplung (PDK) transmission and the Sports Chrono Package, the new Spyder, using Launch Control, accelerates from a standstill to 60 mph in 4.6 seconds. Top track speed is 166 mph – with the roof open.

Fundamentally, the entire Boxster family is the successor to the legendary 550 Spyder and RS 60 of the Fifties and Sixties, all sharing the same mid-engine roadster concept. Low weight and supreme agility combine to provide outstanding driving pleasure.

In 2004 and 2008 Porsche produced limited editions of the Boxster bearing the additional name Spyder, honoring the 550 and RS 60. In contrast, the new Boxster Spyder is a regular, but specially developed and upgraded production model as compared with the Boxster and Boxster S. The 2011 Boxster Spyder goes on sale February 2010. U.S. pricing is $61,200.

<![CDATA[2009 Porsche Boxster Revealed Live]]> Though the 2009 Porsche Boxster may appear to have received only a light visual refresh, limited to a few slightly tweaked lines and some LED lights from its big brother, the internals have received enough attention to launch the Boxster from hairdresser-chic to something the performance-minded could consider. The PDK double-clutch should provide a quick alternative for those unwilling or uninterested in doing the shifting themselves. Power also gets an upgrade to 255 and 310 HP in the base unit and the Boxster S, respectively. Perhaps most important of all, the new Porsche will likely have an optional limited slip differential for those that are inclined towards driving somewhere more challenging than the Palm Beach Mall parking lot.

We're afraid the entry-level Porsche will always catch flack for not being the über-Porsche despite the fact that Porsche has almost always tried to offer varying levels of performance and comfort with its model line. Though we'd still prefer the 2009 Porsche Cayman, the Boxster has improved its performance beyond the reputation it has.

<![CDATA[2009 Porsche Boxster Gets New Transmission, Engine Upgrades]]> Porsche has dropped photos of the 2009 Porsche Boxster and the changes on the inside are thankfully more dramatic than the exceedingly minor facelift. The base Boxster now comes equipped with a 2.9-liter direct injection mill pumping out 255 hp, up 10 hp from the previous generation. In S-trim the 3.4-liter unit, now with direct fuel injection, is good for 310 hp. The biggest news may be the PDK double-clutch über gearbox which provides better fuel economy (north of 26 mpg) and quicker acceleration than the six-speed manual. Additionally, we hear that the Boxster will get a proper limited slip differential. Details about the vehicle in the press release below.

Next generation Porsche Boxster unveiled at Los Angeles Auto Show

In 1948, the 356 was the first sports car to bear the Porsche name, and in July that year the lightweight mid-engined roadster achieved its first motorsport victory. In 1953, the Porsche 550 Spyder was launched. This agile, lightweight race car was powered by a high performance ‘boxer’ engine which took it to countless international victories.

Through 60 years of automotive evolution so much has changed. Yet every Porsche Boxster is built on these first principles. Sports performance, lightweight construction, agility and pure driving pleasure. The technology Porsche use may have developed, but the company’s ability to produce a two-seat, mid-engined sports car unlike any other on the road remains.

This week, Porsche is presenting the second generation of the mid-engined Boxster roadster at the Los Angeles Motor Show (November 21 – 30). The highlight of the new generation is the new flat-six ‘boxer’ engines, developed with new technical features from the ground up, providing not only more power, but also significantly greater fuel efficiency.

A further improvement of both fuel economy and performance is guaranteed by the Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK), the new double-clutch gearbox now available as an option on both the Boxster and Boxster S.

Newly-developed ‘boxer’ engines deliver more power on less fuel
Displacing 2.9-litres, the engine of the Boxster develops 255 bhp (188 kW) in the Boxster, an increase of 10 horsepower over the prior 2.7-litre model.

The 3.4-litre power unit in the Boxster S now features Direct Fuel Injection, and delivers 310 bhp (228 kW), up by 15 bhp.

An impressive power-to-weight ratio imbues the two Boxster models with optimum driving dynamics. For example, with the new six speed manual transmission fitted as standard, the Boxster accelerates from 0-62 mph (100 km/h) in 5.9 seconds. And the Boxster S, when fitted with PDK transmission and Launch Control (featured in the optional Sports Chrono Package Plus), accelerates from 0-62mph (100km/h) in 5.0 seconds.

When combined with PDK, the new 2.9-litre engine fitted to the Boxster clearly breaks through the 30.0mpg fuel consumption boundary. Indeed, the figure of 31.0mpg (9.1 litres/100km) is approximately 10 per cent better than the previous model with the Tiptronic S automatic transmission. Increasing fuel economy by an even more significant 15 per cent to 30.1mpg (9.4 litres/100km), the 3.4-litre Boxster S with PDK offers an even greater saving over its predecessor with Tiptronic S.

In parallel with the improvement in fuel economy, so emissions of the engines have decreased also. Depending on model, emissions have been reduced by up to 16 per cent. The Boxster with the standard six-speed manual gearbox emits 221g/km CO2, and 214g/km CO2 when fitted with PDK. The Boxster S manual emits 223 g/km CO2, and 221 g/km CO2 with PDK.

Significantly, these developments move every Boxster model – whether manual or PDK – into Band F for Vehicle Excise Duty and company car taxation purposes.

Direct Fuel Injection standard on 3.4-litre S engine
The driver benefits from a further advantage of direct injection every time they touch the throttle pedal: with fuel being injected fractions of a second prior to combustion, the engines respond more directly and spontaneously to even the slightest movement of the driver’s right foot. This is not only the case when accelerating, but also when lifting off the throttle, for engine speed drops more quickly and smoothly since there is no residual fuel left in the intake manifold which might otherwise prolong the combustion process.

Depending on engine load and speed, fuel is injected into the combustion chamber at a pressure of 120 bar. The big advantage is that unlike conventional intake manifold injection, direct fuel injection serves to form the fuel/air mixture directly in the combustion chamber. This better mixes the air and fuel in the cylinder, establishing an important prerequisite for clean and complete combustion. This ensures the ‘homogeneous’ operation of the power unit with a consistent balance of the fuel/air mixture in the combustion chamber at all times and under all running conditions. Such smooth operation guarantees optimum combustion and maintains low emissions, across a range of fuel qualities.

Design emphasises performance
The seamless blend of function and design has always been the Porsche philosophy. The result is a design consistency which is recognisable from every angle. A design which is both powerful and refined, and whose lines emphasise its sports performance.

The evolutionary styling of the next generation Boxster embodies these principles. The latest models are clearly distinguishable from outside through their newly-designed nose and tail. The new halogen headlights with their integrated direction indicators are reminiscent of the lights on the Carrera GT, while at the rear, new LED lights taper to the outside and are integrated elegantly in to the restyled bodywork.

The rod-shaped side lights in LED light conductor technology add distinction to the car’s looks, which are further enhanced through their horizontal arrangement in the outer air intakes. Yet a further highlight is provided by the rectangular fog lamps featured as standard.

For the first time, the Boxster is available with a Lights Package featuring bi-xenon headlights, dynamic cornering lights and LED day-time driving lights. Replacing the fog lamps, these light units are made up of four LEDs positioned next to one another.

PDK: shifting gears more quickly, reducing fuel consumption
The new Boxster models are available with the Porsche-Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) carried over directly from motor sport, and replacing the former Tiptronic S torque converter automatic transmission. When equipped with PDK, the Boxster accelerates from 0-62mph (100 km/h) 0.1 seconds faster than with the manual six-speed gearbox.

Acceleration is particularly fast and dynamic with the optional Sports Chrono Package Plus featuring Launch Control; this offers maximum acceleration from a standing start and also a Race Track Gearshift Strategy for the fastest conceivable gear change as an exclusive highlight on the PDK models.

Benefiting from Launch Control, the respective models accelerate from a standstill to 62 mph (100km/h) a further 0.2 seconds faster.

Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) – in detail
The next generation Boxster and Boxster S are available for the first time with the new Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK), literally Porsche double-clutch gearbox. Offering no less than seven forward gears, the new gearbox combines the driving comfort of a torque converter-equipped automatic transmission with the dynamic manual gearshift functionality of a sequential racing gearbox. PDK also boasts an entirely automatic gearshift function, and replaces the Porsche Tiptronic S automatic transmission previously offered. Through its optimised and adaptive gearshift programmes, PDK further improves the acceleration of the Boxster models and reduces fuel consumption to an even lower level.

In principle, the PDK consists of a conventional manual gearbox and a hydraulic control system divided into two separate transmission units. Two wet clutches in radial arrangement, controlled hydraulically, and using oil for both cooling and lubrication, form the heart of the transmission. One clutch is for the first transmission unit with the uneven gear ratios (1,3,5,7) and reverse, and the other clutch is for the second transmission unit with the even gears (2,4,6). Via a number of pressure valves, the hydraulic control unit masterminds both the wet clutches and the shift cylinders activating the transmission ratio required.

The gearshift perceived by the driver comes not from the gears actually changing, but from the change of positive clutch engagement. In this case, the clutch on one transmission opens or disengages while the clutch on the other transmission closes or engages in a simultaneous process. The big advantage is an even faster gearshift than with a conventional manual gearbox or torque converter automatic transmission. The gears are already ‘in mesh’ when shifting and the power of the engine need not be interrupted in the process.

PDK also reduces to a minimum transmission power loss courtesy of the high standard of mechanical efficiency in the double-clutch, and this manifests itself in fuel economy improvements of approximately 13 per cent compared with a conventional Tiptronic S transmission. PDK also offers an advantage in terms of weight – despite two additional gears, it weighs 10kg less than Tiptronic S.

To use the various functions of the double-clutch transmission, the driver can either shift gears by means of sliding toggles on the spokes of the new steering wheel, or via the new gear selector lever. The driver can press forwards to shift the gears up, and press them from behind to shift downwards. Alternatively, pushing the gear selector lever forwards shifts up a gear, and pulling it back shifts down. The option of PDK costs £1,961.

This PDK gearshift principle was first developed by Porsche for motor sport 25 years ago. Porsche works drivers benefiting from this technology were able to accelerate faster than their competitors and keep both hands on the steering wheel while changing gears, thus avoiding even the slightest distraction while shifting.

The seven-speed PDK shifts gears up to 60 per cent faster than a conventional automatic transmission, and naturally, gives the new Boxster models even better performance. And those in search of optimum driving dynamics have the option to combine PDK with Sport Chrono Package Plus, now featuring Launch Control.

Dynamic suspension and supreme brakes – a new option of limited-slip differential
The suspension with its new set-up gives the next generation Boxster models a combination of even greater driving dynamics and enhanced comfort all in one. Modification of the valve control map on the steering gear serves furthermore to reduce steering forces, giving the Boxster more agile and spontaneous steering behaviour.

The wheels come in new designs and are half an inch wider on the Boxster 2.9-litre model than in the past in order to accommodate the larger brake system of the S-models, which are now fitted on the front axle. The Boxster and Boxster S feature the latest generation Porsche Stability Management (PSM) now offering two new functions: Brake Pre-Loading and the Brake Assistant. Whenever the driver lifts off the throttle pedal very quickly – which is typical immediately prior to an emergency braking manoeuvre – the PSM hydraulic control unit builds up an appropriate level of pressure in the brakes before the driver even presses the pedal down, which has the effect of moving the brake pads slightly towards the discs for immediate action. This significantly improves brake response and shortens stopping distances accordingly.

When recognising that the driver is braking in an emergency due to very fast operation of the brake pedal and a defined brake force, the PSM hydraulic control unit actively delivers the brake pressure required for maximum stopping power.

In conjunction with 18- and 19-inch wheels, the new models in the Boxster range are also available with a limited-slip differential on the rear axle. Locking action is 22 per cent under power and 27 per cent in overrun. The result is a significant improvement of both traction and stability providing a substantially higher level of performance on winding roads, particularly on the race track. Yet a further advantage is the more stable load change behaviour. At the same time, the mechanical limited-slip differential, through its particular function, interacts perfectly with the electronic ABD Automatic Brake Differential for optimum traction control, the locking action delaying the tendency of one wheel to spin on a road surface slippery only on one side.

New audio and communication systems
The next generation Boxster features as standard the new CDR-30 CD radio. The new Porsche Communication Management (PCM) 3.0 complete with hard disc navigation serves is available as an option, and when specified adopts the role as the central control unit for all audio, communication and navigation features.

PCM 3.0 is now more versatile, efficient and easier to use than before, standing out in particular through its touch-screen control which enables the driver to select specific functions simply by pressing the appropriate key on the larger 6.5-inch monitor. PCM 3.0 is available with highly convenient voice control and, in conjunction with the optional, universal audio interface, can now be used also to control external audio sources such as an iPod®. USB stick or Bluetooth.

Enthusiasts of all-weather, open-topped motoring will also appreciate the option of seat ventilation combined with seat heating.

The next generation Porsche Boxster goes on sale in the UK and Ireland from February 21st 2009. The Boxster is priced from £34,420 and the Boxster S priced from £41,250. Customers will also be able to explore the dynamic attributes of their car, and develop their own skills behind the wheel, courtesy of a Driving Experience Programme at the new Porsche Driving Experience Centre at Silverstone.

<![CDATA[2010 Porsche Boxster, Cayman Get Minor Facelift?]]> Autoweek.nl has gotten their hot little Dutch mitts on images they claim are the freshened-up faces of the new Porsche Cayman and Porsche Boxster. If these shots are in fact the real thing, then changes seem to be limited on the exterior to the shape of the front bumpers below the headlights, the tail lamps getting a bit more curvy and the exhaust going twin exit rather than single. To be perfectly honest, if we woke up to a facelift like this, we'd probably smack the surgeon. Of course that may be because the curve on the bumper below the headlight seems wholly unnatural, but maybe that's just us. We'll be waiting to see if these are the real deal shots or just something Autoweek.nl created themselves.

<![CDATA[Porsche Reveals 303 HP Special Limited Edition 2009 Boxster, Cayman]]> Porsche's plans for two new special edition cars have leapt from internet leakage to reality as the duo, dubbed the Boxster S Porsche Design Edition 2 and the Porsche Cayman S Sport, are finally official and due in October. Should you be inclined to purchase one of the 50 US-bound Boxster S cars, or 200 Cayman S Sports, you'll get eight more ponies between your go-pedal and the road, for a total of 303 HP. Also, a set of 5 mm wheel spacers should provide the cars with slightly more neutral handling tendencies, possibly bordering on oversteer. You'll also find an array of cosmetic upgrades including stripes and badging, and in the case of the Boxster, a fancy new Porsche-designed wristwatch. No word on the wristwatches' effect on acceleration, handling or braking, but since it's included, we're assuming it's substantial.

Jalopnik Snap Judgment: Not content to leave mocking its own brand to cars like the Porsche Cayenne and the ever-pending Panamera, Porsche seems happy to offer marginal upgrades with forced exclusivity in exchange for large sums of money. And good on 'em: If you can make a buck, why not, right? Consider these cars a tribute to someone's ego and, while still great performers, not worth the extra dough. That is, unless you really want that new wristwatch.

MORE POWER AND UNIQUE DESIGN CUES MARK NEW PORSCHE BOXSTER S AND CAYMAN S LIMITED EDITIONS ATLANTA, AUGUST 4, 2008 - A comprehensive list of enhancements, led by more powerful engines and unique visual features, will distinguish the new, limited-edition Boxster S Porsche Design Edition 2 and Porsche Cayman S Sport mid-engine sports cars when they are introduced in October by Porsche Cars North America (PCNA) and Porsche Cars Canada. Porsche will build 500 Boxster S Porsche Design Edition 2 and 700 Cayman S Sport models, and less than 50 of the Boxster S and approximately 100 of the Cayman S limited-edition sports cars - each one with a glove box plaque bearing its number from the exclusive series - will reach U.S. shores. Both cars will be available through authorized U.S. Porsche dealers this October, and the Boxster S Porsche Design Edition 2 and Cayman S Sport U.S. MSRPs are $66,900 and $69,900, respectively.

A range of standard equipment, beyond the eight-horsepower bump to 303 from the 3.4-Liter engine, further sets these variants apart from the standard Porsche Cayman S and Boxster S. The Cayman S Sport's appearance emulates that of the Porsche 911 GT3 RS, beginning with standard GT3 RS exterior colors of green or orange, which are enhanced by GT3 RS touches likeblack rims, exterior mirrors and air-intake grilles and a black interior design package. Like the GT3 RS, the sides of the new car feature its model designation, "Cayman S" in black letters. In addition to orange and green, the Cayman S Sport will be available in black, Guards Red, Speed Yellow, Carrara White or Arctic Silver.

Performance upgrades standard on the Cayman S Sport beyond the engine include Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) with a 10mm-lowered suspension, as well as 5mm spacers on the 19-inch SportDesign wheels. Additional standard features include Bi-Xenon headlamps, the Sports Chrono Package, sports seats, alcantara finish for the gearshift lever, hand brake and the rim of the GT3 steering wheel, as well as a sports exhaust system featuring a twin-chamber tailpipe. Spotting the new Boxster S Porsche Design Edition 2 will be easy - look for the Carrara White mid- engine Porsche roadster with white finishes on the star-spoke, painted 19-inch SportDesign wheels, side air intakes, center console and instrument dials. Contrasting the white features are grey stripes lengthwise along the body, and black standard leather upholstery and convertible top in stone grey. Echoing the white tachometer and speedometer is the included Boxster S Porsche Design Edition 2 Chronograph, a men's wristwatch from the Porsche Design Dashboard Collection designed in conjunction with the car.

<![CDATA[Fake Carrera GT Is Still Too Nice For Teenage Drivers]]> What's better than handing the keys to your Porsche Carrera GT to your kid and having him destroy it? How about giving him this Chinese knockoff version he can wreck all day long at a fraction of the price? Brilliant! Though not cheap, with a 'buy it now' price of $80 grand, this Carrera actually started life as a Boxster, got put in the taffy puller and stretched 12 inches front and back, and then had a new body dropped on top. Keen eyes render it obvious as a poseur, but it's actually a pretty good fake. Better than most of the Fierarris we've seen, anyway.

<![CDATA[2010 Porsche Cayman S, Boxster S Revealed By Internal Renderings]]> We have it on good authority that these renderings accurately show the 2010 Porsche Cayman S and 2010 Porsche Boxster S. In addition to the face-lifted looks, powertrain changes should make both cars faster and more fun to drive, with the Cayman S being boosted to 320 HP and 273 lb-ft of torque while returning better fuel economy. Make the jump for more details and analysis. Update: It looks like LSD will be optional on both models, although it's still not clear if it'll be mechanical or torque biasing.

These renderings appeared on the Cayman Club message board, where details of their origin were not known. Internal sources have now revealed to us that these are authentic representations of both new models.

We hate to say it, but it looks like two of the best sports cars on sale are getting better. Direct injection and revised variable cam profiles combine to deliver both improved power and economy, while the standard spec receives a welcome boost. But — and this is a big 'but' — there's still no limited-slip differential, which, in our opinion was the only thing holding the current model back. Regardless, the current Cayman and Boxster are not just our pick of the Porsche litter, but our favorite contemporary sports cars, delivering the right blend of performance, handling and involvement, making them capable of embarrassing cars that cost several times the Cayman S' $59,100 price tag. Oh yeah, and expect that to increase as well.

The revised 7-speed PDK manumatic will cease being the manual's poor relation for 2010, now offering faster shift times and 911-like launch control.

It looks like the 911 Turbo-esque LED driving lights are just an optional extra, rather than an indicator of a new turbocharged model, as previously rumored.

• More power and torque in comparison to Cayman/S:
+20 HP / +25 HP and +27 Nm / +30 Nm (2010 Cayman: 265 HP, 221 lb-ft; Cayman S: 320 HP, 273 lb-ft)

• Performance differentiation in comparison to Boxster II/S II:
+10 HP/ +15 HP (2010 Boxster: 255 HP; Boxster S: 310 HP)

• Improved performance (driving dynamics, laptimes, fun to drive):
- increased power and torque: new DFI technology for S-model

<![CDATA[Attack Of The Killer Lexus RX300!]]> It came from a northern Ireland supermarket parking lot, it had a lust for Porsche Boxster and Toyota Celica blood, and it would not stop until it had crushed both into submission: It was the killer Lexus RX300! Dun, Dun, DUUUUN!!!!! Local news reporters assumed it was the result of poor automatic transmission shifting skills, but those in the know won't be turning their backs on any RX300's any time soon... they're all out there, just waiting to crush your ride next.

Nobody seems to have been hurt here, but there are definitely some bruised egos. It's worth the trip over to the BBC website to check out the video, as it's rife with funny British words and pronunciations like "sa-LEE-ka," talk of bonnets, and amusing Irish accents. We're going to hell, we know. [BBC]

<![CDATA[Porsche Boxster Destroyed For Finnish Radio Promo]]> Finnish radio station "NRJ" has done what many Porche 911-o-philes only dream of: They destroyed a Porsche Boxster in spectacular fashion. The station held a contest to determine whether to give away or destroy the baby Porsche, and 56 percent of the voters decided the Boxster was marked for death. NRJ decided the best way to carry out the execution was to drop the car from a 100-foot crane, ass-first. The resulting collision was the equivalent of a hitting a wall at 54 MPH. In reverse. Ouch. <![CDATA[Porsche Coming To New York, Bringing Three "World Premiere" Vehicles]]> Porsche just dropped a presser on us which has us scratching our heads. Any time we read words like "Porsche" and "First" and "Shown" in a press release, we expect the things contained therein to be, you know, Porsches being shown for the first time. In this case, that's maybe only partially true. In breathless verbiage, we're told all about the amazing new Porsche Cayenne GTS, Porsche 911 GT2, Porsche Boxster RS60 Spyder and the racing Porsche RS Spyder. Problem is we've already seen the Porsche Cayenne GTS and the Porsche 911 GT2 in the flesh, the Porsche Boxster RS60 Spyder has been both on the web and boring for nigh on three and a half months. And it would be a shock if the Porsche RS Spyder which has already won more races than we care to count wasn't pretty well known. So at the end of the day, we're really confused on exactly what it is we're supposed to be excited about here. But — the press release in all of it's breathlessness is below the jump.

THREE PORSCHE FIRSTS TO BE SHOWN AT THE GREATER NEW YORK INTERNATIONAL AUTO SHOW

World's first 300+hp Boxster, world's first 400+hp naturally aspirated Cayenne, world's first 500+hp 911: all in the Porsche stand at the Javits Center

New York, March 17, 2008 - In 2003, many pundits speculated that Porsche's move into the Sport Utility field would herald the end of the brand and the sports cars with which its name is synonymous. This year's press day's display at the 2008 Greater New York International Auto Show proves once and for all that every drop of that sports car DNA flows strong through the veins of every vehicle Porsche makes, today and in the future.

In 1960, Porsche earned its special place in motorsports history when the relatively small displacement Type 718 RS 60 Spyder took Porsche's very first International endurance win at the 12 Hours of Sebring. Overnight, Porsche became "The Giant Killer" having knocked off its bigger-bore, higher horsepower competition, including several factory Ferrari, Maserati.

To pay homage to that "Giant Killer," Porsche will introduce the Limited Edition Boxster RS60. With over 300 horsepower and a number of special "Boxster RS60" features, this commemorative sports car promises to capture the legacy of its forefathers in a package you can drive everyday.

Since the first Cayenne was introduced in 2003, Porsche has worked tirelessly to improve the breed. The latest of the new generation Cayennes is the 405 hp GTS. This vehicle proves that once again, Porsche has elevated the standard by which all other SUVs will be be judged. The Porsche Cayenne GTS, which has been called "the best handling SUV in the world," will be on display with its Porsche siblings.

For those who continue to insist in the face of overwhelming facts that Porsche has lost its focus on its core business, sports cars, Porsche will be displaying the ultimate 911 - the 530 horsepower, 505 lb. ft. of torque, 200+ mph Porsche 911 GT2. The GT2 demonstrates how Porsche is continuing to refine, improve and invest in its core sports car business.

In 2007, the Porsche RS Spyder proved once again that Porsche's heritage as a giant killer is alive and well. The Penske Team went to battle against the previously all-dominating Audi LMP1s with a lighter, more nimble, more fuel efficient, smaller displacement LMP2 car. The results will stand as one of the most spectacular seasons of racing seen in North America in decades. Taking 11 of 12 class victories and a stunning eight overall victories, Porsche once again demonstrated its technological prowess and reinforced its reputation for winning.

Last weekend, the RS Spyder once again proved the name "giant killer" remains appropriate by not only winning its class at Sebring, but winning the overall victory over more powerful competition in America's most famous sports car race. The 2008 Porsche RS Spyder will be on display at the Porsche booth for the duration of the Greater New York International Auto Show.

The Limited Edition Boxster RS 60, Cayenne GTS, 911 GT2 and the RS Spyder are currently on sale in the United States with a base price of $64,900, $69,300, $191,700 and $1,500,000 respectively.

Porsche Cars North America, Inc., based in Atlanta, GA, and, Porsche Cars Canada, Ltd., based in Mississauga, Ontario, are the two importers of Porsche sports cars and Cayenne sport utility vehicles for the United States and Canada respectively. Each is a wholly owned, indirect subsidiary of Dr. Ing.h.c. F. Porsche AG. Combined, these two subsidiaries employ approximately 250 people who provide Porsche vehicles, parts, service, marketing and training for 200 U.S. and 12 Canadian dealers. They, in turn, provide Porsche owners with best-in-class service.

<![CDATA[Bollywood Mocks Your Hollywood Car Chasing Conventions]]> Hollywood loves a good car chase and has, over the years, created certain conventions that are normally followed. Car chases almost always wind their way through crowded streets, over fruit carts/stands and within inches of certain danger. Apparently, Bollywood has its own car chasing/racing schtick: newsstand instead of fruit cart, open highways instead of narrow streets and, not surprisingly, dancing instead of danger. Boxster versus Mitsubishi GTO, who will win? Sanju or Sahiil, who will dance better? Furniture storm FTW! (Thanks to Dr.Danger for the tip) [YouTube, Wikipedia]

<![CDATA[Porsche Boxster RS 60 Spyder Limited Edition]]> The kiddos from Stuttgart have something special in mind for the Bologna Auto Show. Unlike some automakers we could think of, Porsche doesn't come out with special editions every other day so it's kind of special when they do. Inspired by Porsche's victory at the 1960 12 Hours of Sebring, the Boxster RS 60 Spyder Limited Edition pays homage to the winning Type 718 RS in a number of ways. The Silver Metallic paint and Carrera Red interior is your most obvious hint, unless you're sitting in the passenger seat and you notice the plaque on the dash. You might also notice the 19-inch SportDesign alloy wheels and a unique front spoiler. Internally, the modified Boxster gets a new exhaust with unique dual tailpipes that boost the output of the flat-six to 303 horsepower. Porsche's Active Suspension Management is included and will help you fling all that extra style around the track (or country club). Fittingly, just 1,960 of these cars will be available at a price of around $78,000. Press release after the jump.

Porsche is presenting a new version of the mid-engined Boxster roadster at the Bologna Motor Show in Italy on December 5 - 16. In its distinctive design, features and philosophy, the Boxster RS 60 Spyder echoes the classic motorsport era of the 1960s, and in particular the success of Porsche sports cars during that period.

After countless class wins around the circuits of Europe and America, in 1960 the Porsche Type 718 RS 60 Spyder beat competitors with much larger engines to score its first overall victory in the 12 Hours of Sebring in Florida, USA, one of the most prestigious long-distance sports car races, courtesy of Hans Herrmann and Olivier Gendebien.

The new Boxster RS 60 Spyder reflects the sporting character and design purism of that successful mid-engined two-seater sports racing car. The RS 60 Spyder is based on the acclaimed Boxster S model, but differs significantly in terms of its performance and features.

Externally, the RS 60 Spyder is distinguished by a unique front spoiler and 19-inch diameter Porsche SportDesign alloy wheels, which spacer plates have moved outwards purposefully in the wheel arches. A modified sports exhaust system combined with dual tailpipes increases engine output to 303 bhp as well as adding further definition to the car's appearance. Completing the sporting orientation to the driving experience is Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) which adds further dynamism to the Boxster chassis.

Distinctive GT Silver Metallic paintwork is accentuated by the contrasting natural leather interior in Carrera Red. The roof is also finished in red. As an alternative, there is also the choice of Dark Grey natural leather in conjunction with a Black roof. The tail light clusters are also finished in red.

Inside, door trim strips made of stainless steel proudly bear the "RS 60 Spyder" model designation. The leather interior trim is further distinguished by a textured surface on the centre sections of the sports seats and the centre door linings, and this also extends to the steering wheel rim and handbrake lever. Completing the sporting ambience is a bespoke gear lever.

Complementing the exterior appearance, the faces of the instrument dials have a GT Silver Metallic finish and with this model not having the usual hood over the instrument cluster, the large central rev counter and the two circular dials on either side bring something of the flair of a racing car to the cockpit.

Further features include the windscreen surround finished in black, as well as the centre console, the seat backrests and the roll hoops all finished in GT Silver Metallic and thus harmonising with the seat belts also finished in Silver.

Reflecting its model designation, the Boxster RS 60 Spyder is limited to 1,960 examples, each one proudly bearing a silver-coloured plaque on the lid of the glove compartment.

Market launch of the new Porsche Boxster RS 60 Spyder is starting worldwide in March 2008. Including 19 per cent VAT and country-specific requirements, the retail price in Germany is Euro 63,873, the base price Euro 53,500. [Porsche via WorldCarFans]

<![CDATA[Pretty Damn Kwick: Porsche Set To Launch Dual-Clutch Gearbox, Call it PDK]]>

Straight off the editor's desk from the News That Surprises No One Department comes more info on Porsche's coming double-clutch manumatic gearbox. (That means one clutch handles the odd gears while a separate clutch toggles the evens.) According to the UK's What Car, they're calling the tranny, "Porsche Doppel Kupplungen," or PDK for short (making it as easy on the options sheet as VW's DSG). But when will it arrive, and in what models? A report from last year indicated the heirs of Ferdinand will offer the new box across all model lines. So keep your ears pointed northeast, because the noise Farago makes when the PDK shows up in a Boxster is going to make Howard Dean seem like a mute. And by shaving off a heap of milliseconds between shifts, it could mean the Tiptronic 911 Turbo's 3.4 seconds to 60 mph could be quite a laugh one day.
