This in a rear wheel drive converted 1984 or 1985 Ford Tempo two-door would be something interesting. I've seen a big block Ford stuffed into one ('85 GL Coupe), but nothing modern (or 1994+ for that matter). #raptor
@Ford Tempo Fanatic: Ford got government money a few years ago. Their bailout was just earlier than the rest and their recovery has progressed further. #boss
My jaw dropped. My skin tingled. In cast iron, Ford is drawing an indelible boundary. No mere line in the sand, this is a statement in molten metal. #boss
After years and years of quietly wishing for American auto manufacturing would get off its ass, I'm seeing more and more evidence of at least one company actually doing it. The past several years to me have been like Leonard-Spinks fight. We all thought we were going to see poor old Sugar Ray get his ass handed to him by the young brash challenger Leon Spinks. Well, it didn't turn out that way. Spinks had youth on his side and that was all - Sugar Ray danced around him, played bongos on his head and put him decisively away. Hell, Sugar Ray could have gone a bunch more rounds - he looked like he was actually having fun. And Spinks looked like he was getting a colonoscopy.
Ford is Sugar Ray. The old champ has mountains of fight left in him. #boss
@günter macbeetle, codename: chrystlubitshi: What, what, what? Did someone say GT? Wow, that is some engine, isn't it? I think I'll stick with the 5.4-liter engine. Thanks for thinking of me! ;) #raptor
@skaycog: aww come on, no replacement for displacement and all...
though.. i guess they way they have the 5.4 crammed in there it'd take a lot of re-engineerding to do... and why mess with something that works so well already. (you're quite welcome nudge nudge ;) #raptor
@skaycog: You're right to stick with the 5.4L it's lighter and with the internals package all you need to do is turbo the thing and you're pumping out over 1000hp. #raptor
The Stang in all its various flavors sell more thanany other Ford car there is.
why wouldnt they ride it?
and btw.. us Ford guys asked for those flavors..
and they listened.
Not everyone can afford a Shelby GT500 let alone a KR.
we like to be able to have a Mustang in our price range that fits us.
Now if these cars were sitting and rotting on dealer lots like F150s and other trucks.. you might have a point.. but down here at least you cannot even get your hands on a GT in choice colors most of the time.
they are all sold out.. and dont even think about getting a Gt500 or even a Shelby GT without being on a waiting list or paying over sticker.
So nothing wrong at all with various flavors of Mustangs.
and BTW the Foxes ate the hell out of DIEROCS during the 80s.
specially 5.0 LX notchbacks.
too many Chevy/Pontiac retards around here to listen to anything anyway.
@pauljones: Camaro definitely upped the ante with its 304hp V6 and IRS, but the lighter Mustang wouldn't need the same power to be competitive. I think an additional 50 or 60 HP over the current 4 liter Six should be perfectly adequate for the volume selling base car. Everybody goes nuts over the top engine options in pony cars, but it's the base car that makes the sales volume.
Good to hear. Hopefully the will be smart about it, and maintain the availability of the GT suspension in the V6, something that GM needs to do with the Camaro.

There again, 550hp is probably more than enough for me. When I get one, we'll go on that drive off into the sunset. #raptor

A) You are correct, if the consumer ask for them and subsequently buy them, there is nothing wrong with them.
B) F-150s have once more surpassed Civics as the best-selling new vehicle in America.
C) Only if those Foxes were modified and the IROCs were stock.
D) Yep, that's right, I'm a GM guy that likes my Camaros and Firebirds. Your point?

I agree with that. If they could get the V6 Mustang up to around the same level as the SN95 GTs, which put out 265 hp, they would be in good shape.
