Is this what they government meant when it promised that the car companies would be run without political interference? Soon, every dealership shutdown is going to require a Congressional hearing, like a military base close closing.

Good. As a Home Depot stockholder I can't see why anyone would want Bob the Builder as CEO. He's probably unqualified to be janitor.

@junkman: Bob the Builder epitomizes the reason why some of these "golden parachutes" exist. It was cheaper for the company to pay him a shitload of money to go away than to keep him. Yeah, it seems unfair that someone would drive a company into the ground then get a giant pot of gold to leave, but when you realize that the alternative is to keep that person and let them drive you all the way to hell, a few million bucks doesn't seem so bad.

Chrysler would do well to grab at every straw that's drifting by, right about now.

But where is the mothership of Cerberus Capital Management in all of this? Seems like they're content to let their prize acquisition go down without offering much help at all.

@Van Sarockin, rogue trebuchet: Cerberus, unlike the US Government, is not willing to throw good money after bad.

Which is mindboggling since they are the owners and it is a privately-traded company. I have a couple bad investment I wish the government would bail me out of.

Here in the South, we call that 'poor-mouthing'. I don't think we are going to see them say anything until others have committed funds. Even then, their whole investment may be speculative, waiting for others to buy them out.

Ray - I think I see your point, but the merits of the vehicle seem to be unrelated to Chrysler's PR policy. Including the fact that you think the new Ram HD is no good confuses your argument:

If you are not posting images of the new product because you think it sucks, your making that choice for the readers and that doesn't seem fair.

If you are not posting the images of the new product because Chrysler's PR dept. is a bunch of wankers, that seems more valid.

@Ray Wert: Well then I guess I would ask you to stop being (a little) unfair to your readers.

And really, even if the Chrysler PR people are wankers, it seems like you're shooting yourself in the foot by not posting images that some people want to see. It would also suck if you're unable to test drive future product that people want to read about because of this.

Ray, I'd say this is the kind of thing that's best left behind the scenes.

Most of us internet mouth-breathers don't see all the intricacies of what it takes to run this operation. But we do see whining.

I'm not gonna go all "You've changed, man" on you, but I think the battle you're trying to fight isn't going to be won with posts like this.
