I had a front-row seat to the rollover. I was passing the Corvair with our Peugeot coming out of 6 when the BMW blasted by on the inside and hooked it, either because of some dirt on the inside of the corner or because he got caught by the 3-series jacking problem and put his CG over his center of roll. It was a beautiful roll-over, the car did at least a one-and-a-half twist on the passenger side headlight before falling on the roof. I was worried about the driver because he stayed in the car until it was righted but he was fine and decided that he didn't want to undo the belts while upside-down. We caught some of it on video hopefully but the file with that part has a problem and we've yet to recover it. If we do I'll post it here right away.
Wait, that engine didn't get any penalties?! Pro-tip, all E30s had a metal intake manifold. The big plastic manifold should have been a clue that something was not kosher.
@LTDScott: The team had completely obsessive documentation for that engine, which they bought from some dude on Craigslist for a ridiculously cheap price. Plus they got Judge Ed, one of the original LeMons judges, and he's a little nicer than me and Judge Jonny.
Keep in mind, all you new teams considering E30s, that most of the E30s in this race finished much, much, much lower in the standings. #24hoursoflemonstexas

It was the only saving grace of the 1980 F-100 heap-O-shit I piloted for a few years.
Gotta love perfect primary and secondary balance. In fact, the 3.2L in my '95 E320 is so smooth, even with it missing on 1.5 cylinders, I didn't feel too bad driving it for three weeks while I diagnosed the problem then waited on parts.
I have to admit, it's nice to have it back to "is it running", smoothness.
@send lawyers, guns, and money: When I bought Henrietta, my pictured '66 F100, the 240 six sounded like someone shaking a coffee can full of loose nuts and bolts. Paid $750.00 for her, BTW. Pulled the valve cover, and there were BROKEN PUSHRODS in there. And it ran. Still. New head, then soon after the bottom end blew. Bearings. Reman bottom end, and the things has run pretty much flawlessly since 1999. Oh yeah, I did all that work outside.

@CptSevere: Almost every Big/Medium Truck you see every day has a I-6 diesel pushing it, it's when they try and make a V-8 do the work of an I-6 in a pick-up that it get's all wonky. If an I-6 is too big, get an I-4.. #24hoursoflemonstexas
@coupeZ600: More bearings on a longer crank, right? Crank flex is an issue, but more bearings fixes that. A V configured engine has a shorter crank, but less room for bearings, plus more pistons torquing on it. That's my understanding, anyhow.
Fun trivia fact: Packard's 327 straight eight had five main bearings. That's a lot. I think my SBC in the motorhome has four.
