That's not safer. Your head is as vulnerable in many types of crashes as if you were on a motorcycle. Except you aren't wearing a helmet.
There's also a lot more weight, and the mass and center of gravity is much higher. It will be less maneuverable and controllable.
The four point belts would be an improvement in cars.
BMW initially produced this to provide more weather protection for riders, but it doesn't really provide all that much more. It is breathtakingly expensive. They managed that very well. #bmwc1e
@Van Sarockin, rogue trebuchet: Your right - this lady is very susceptible to a head injury of the worst sort; bft to the temple. Believe it or not, I think they had actually planned on putting airbags on this when it was first developed. I doubt they've figured out how to do that though.
I think the MP3 by Piaggio is probably safer just from a stability standpoint. And they could actually make a version with an enclosed cockpit if they wanted, which could be kinda cool and allow for riding in inclement weather. #bmwc1e
The real key to the success of vehicles such as this is cost. If this thing costs $10,000 or so, I'd rather buy a car. It has to be cheap to buy and cheap to own. #bmwc1e

I'd rather be driving a Peel P50. Even at 6'4" I'd be less embarrassed. #bmwc1e
