Jalopnik Insurance Cost Analysis: Massive damage and the loss of hundreds of GT-Rs have occurred when owners realized they could not in fact ride the walls around turns, drive through other cars or reset the game.

G-Power's newest tuned monstrosity, the BMW M6 Coupe-based Hurricane CS, appears ready to break records like its stablemate, the M5-based Hurricane RS. Whereas the Hurricane RS set a world record for the fastest sedan with a top speed of 228mph (367.4km/h), the Hurricane CS is eyeing the same speeds which would make it the fastest BMW coupe in the world.

In order to pull of this impressive feat, G-Power has dropped in their twin-supercharged BMW M V10 which is capable of developing 750-horsepower and 590lb-ft or torque in high revving fashion. G-Power installs its own belt-driven ASA T1-316 superchargers, tuned to increase the volume of air by up to 25% while running on separate cylinder banks. G-Power's math seems a bit off, but we'll roll with it. The engine was also tuned with Mahle forged pistons, effectively reducing compression, as well as higher tolerance rods and pins to help them handle the increase in performance.

Not content with just providing a performance package, G-Power has also produced this somewhat toonish widebody aero-kit painted in something we like to think of as 'smurf blue.' They've also included a fully adjustable suspension system, carbon-ceramic brakes and Michelin rubber-wrapped 21-inch wheels. You can pick up this non-recession proof G-Power Hurricane CS package for around $478,000 USD. [via G-Power]

Racer X Designs, of KC-427 and RZ Formula fame, have decided to try their hand at restyling the current BMW M6 coupe to fall more in line with the classic BMW 635CSi. Although these are just renderings, they show an aggressive restyling treatment to the front and rear fascias as well as a 55mm wider track to allow for more aggressive rubber. The obvious inspiration for the schnoz comes from the recent BMW M1 Homage Concept, but we see a little 2010 Chevy Camaro in there too.

Inspired by the earlier generation E24 6 series, the RZ-M6 captures the stylish and aggressive looks of the older generations of BMW’s and puts them in the current 6 series . This is what the current 6 series could look like, by replacing body panels, yet keeping the basic structure intact. The body is 50mm wider to offer wider rubber for better grip.

The current M6 already offers a high level of performance, with upgrades for even more power available worldwide. The RZ-M6 is designed to show how a 6 series should look like to reflect that pedigree. While aggressive, it’s not over the top, keeping the lines of the current M6 structure flowing and factory like. It’s not a boy racer’s car, it’s more mature, more elegant, yet not to be messed with. All this was evident in the older generation BMW’s. This is a tribute to the E24 6 series.

History of the E24 6 series

The early BMW sport coupes had monumental performance and style with the added luxury of design and technology. Showcased at the Geneva Motor Show in March of 1976, the 6 Series E24 sport coupes were the successor to the E9 3.0 CSi coupe. The coupe tradition in the early and mid seventies had been so widely successful, that BMW decided the era of 1965-75 coupes needed a successor. Transferring the tradition and image created by BMW with beautiful models like the 2000 C/CS and the 3.0-3.5 CS/CSi/CSL coupes, the E24 coupe captured this same image and effect. The E24 635 CSi touring car was BMWs entrant in Group A touring car racing from 1983 until the introduction of the BMW M3 in 1986.

Yes, it's what appears to be a genuine first-generation BMW M6 (or a really, really good fake). I was out for a walk and spotted this red shark parked in a handicapped zone next to Alameda Hospital. You see, handicapped drivers here in the Bay Area don't allow their disabilities to dilute their love for fast German cars.


Fewer than 2,000 E24 M6s were sold in North America during the 1983-89 period. The '87 came with a 256-horse six and a price tag of $55,950 ($106,695.07 in 2008 bucks), just a few grand less than a new Porsche 928S.


This example is in very nice condition for a street-driven 21-year-old car. Sure, 256 horsepower in a 3,570-pound car isn't such a big deal nowadays, but this thing was a fearsome factory hot rod in its time.

FAST: G-POWER M6 HURRICANE Convertible with 635hp

One of the world's fastest and most powerful convertibles is made by G-POWER. 635hp and 635 Nm torque; these are the attributes of the latest G-POWER development for the BMW M6.

Being a straight offshoot from the legendary G-POWER M5 HURRICANE BI-Kompressor system with 730hp, the G-POWER BI-Kompressor system EVOI is a less radical alternative to achieve the desired increase in power output for all current V10 engines coming from the M-GmbH.

Especially the acceleration performance in mid range, a weak point of the fast-revving concept favored by the engineers of the M-GmbH, underlines the dominance of the G-POWER BI-Kompressor system. Equipped with the G-POWER BI-Kompressor EVOI system the BMW M6 is finally capable of that superior performance characteristic most customers would have expected from the beginning.

Acceleration performance benefits from the perfect performance characteristic of the G-POWER equipped V10 engine accordingly. With a sprint time from rest to 100 km/h of 4.6 seconds and to 200 km/h in 11,9 seconds the 2-ton convertible accelerates like a true sports car. The 300-km/h barrier is shattered after 34,5 seconds from standstill. Contrary to the production car the G-POWER M6 HURRICANE convertible is not limited electronically to a top speed of 250 km/h but to 320 km/h. The determining factors therefore are weight, tyres and most important the soft top of the M6 convertible.

The G-POWER M6 HURRICANE convertible is available as a fully converted car starting at 183,000 Euros. Any existing M6 - sedan and wagon - can also be upgraded with the G-POWER BI-Kompressor system EVOI along with numerous items from the extensive G-POWER tuning accessories lineup.
