Always loved the Innocenti, my Daihatsu Mira guess was a bit off.
English chassis, Japanese engine and Italian bodywork: they fit together better than one would have thought.
Magneti Marelli trumps Lucas...
In return for their engines, Innocenti owner Alejandro de Tomaso allowed Daihatsu to use his name on sporting JDM Daihatsus. Kind of like when ZZ Top made that "Honda Z" commercial.

It was a delight to drive but I ended up with five of them trying to keep one running. I thought I was a real winner when I got $1500Cdn for the package of five. Note that the engine was bulletproof but the rest of the car was Italian.
@superbadd75, with electrolytes!: Only turbo Rocky I know of is the 2.8L turbo diesel sold in the UK. All US bound Rocky's were the 1.6L toyota sourced mill.
@Neener: Yeah, but that gets us into the whole Rocky/Feroza/Taft trouble - the US Rocky was (unusually) a much tinier vehicle than what was labelled Rocky in the Rest Of The World.
