Kangaroo Leaps Into Australian Bathurst 1000 V8 Supercar Championship, Survives!


Apparently that's not an unusual thing — but it's certainly unusual to us to see a kangaroo take a flying leap into the midst of the Bathurst 1000 V8 supercar championship race this past weekend. Little Skippy went a-hoppin' and a-leapin' onto the racetrack and somehow managed to neither cause himself or any racecar any serious injury. By the way, didja see how fast those Ford V8's swerved out of the way — we've never seen a Ford corner so fast in all our lives.

Bathurst Kangaroo!

In Australia, there are many wonderous things — utes, sheilas, The Great Barrier Reef, Paul Hogan and road trains — not to mention a rather abundant diversity of marsupials. Some of these marsupials are kangaroos. Sometimes, kangaroos end up where they're not supposed to be, such as on the track at Bathurst during a motor racing competition. More »

All Manner of Vintage Iron Showin' Up at Bathurst

Oh, to be in Australia April 13th through 16th. More specifically, to be at Mount Panorama for the Bathurst International Motor Festival. Featuring static displays and hot laps by some of the most renowed cars in Australian motorsports history, from a 1935 Sulman Singer GP car to a '92 Nissan Skyline GT-R with all manner of Fords, Holdens and Chryslers in between, well, we'd just kinda geek out. Besides Canada, Oz is really the only nation with a motoring history much like our own, only totally different and on the wrong side of the road. Plus, they never gave up on the V-8/rear-drive idea, which to us makes them even more heroic. More »
